Job Description
Job Title Electrician (Journeyman) Location Ft. Belvoir, VA 22060 - Ft. Belvoir, VA 22060 US (Primary) Job Type Full-Time Job Description/Announcement STS International, a veteran owned small business systems engineering and integration firm is looking for an experienced Electrician to work on-site for a government client at Fort Belvoir, VA. The ideal candidate will have a industrical electrial experience and a desire to learn and work on a variety of tasks to include electrical installation, service and maintenance. Position Roles and Responsibilities Installs, connects, tests, and sustains electrical systems for a variety of purposes, including climate control, security, and communications. Figures layout, installs, and repairs wiring, electrical fixtures, apparatus, and control equipment, such as switches, relays, and circuit-breaker panels, fastening in place with screws or bolts, using hand tools and power tools. Plans new or modified installations to minimize waste of materials, provide access for future maintenance, and avoid unsightly, hazardous, and unreliable wiring, consistent with specifications and local electrical codes. Prepares sketches showing location of wiring and equipment, or follows diagrams or blueprints, ensuring that concealed wiring is installed before completion of future walls, ceilings, and flooring. Tests continuity of circuit to ensure electrical compatibility and safety of components, using testing instruments, such as ohmmeter, battery and buzzer, and oscilloscope. Observes functioning of installed equipment or system to detect hazards and need for adjustments, relocation, or replacement. Repairs faulty equipment or systems. Moves furniture and ceiling panels/fixtures and repairs drywall as required. Assist other facilities maintenance team members in projects as required. Follows all safety protocol and protection measures; assists with or advises safety inspections as required. Minimum/General Experience 2+ years of experience as an Electrician Must have an Electrician License (journeyman or equivalent) Must have the ability to use hand tools, power tools, ohmmeters and other testing devices to diagnose issues and verify system integrity. Must be able to collaborate with other trades and provide excellent customer service. Must be able to do lifting and movement of furniture for some occupied office work spaces. Be able to work independently with little supervision and as part of a team.
