Job Description

Work in performed in the Water Services Department and involves maintenance, diagnostics and required repairs on electrical systems at the water treatment plants, booster stations, and Remote Telemetry Sites (tanks and meter vaults) with minimal supervision. This position is requited to respond to emergency calls for service on a call-out basis and works outside normal working hours as needed. In addition, assist with other electrical and non-electrical work with the County as needed and as assigned. Duties and Responsibilities Provide maintenance, diagnostics and required repairs on electrical systems at the water treatment plants, booster stations, and Remote Telemetry Sites (tanks and meter vaults.) Voltages on electrical systems range from 12VDC to 480 VAC at all locations and 4160 VAC switch gear, transformers and motors located at the treatment plant. Motor horsepower ranges from ½ hp to 800 hp motors. Order replacement parts and equipment as needed. Performs record keeping and maintains files on work performed and schedule for maintenance and repairs. Installs electrical conduit, wire systems, motor components and related electrical devices. Observes standard operating procedures and safety practices. Provide maintenance, diagnostics and required repairs on the Supervisory Control And Data Acquisition (SCADA) system at treatment plants, booster stations, tanks, and meter vaults. Responds to emergency calls for service on a call-out basis and works outside normal working hours as needed. Will work independently with minimal supervision. Operates general maintenance equipment required to perform other maintenance functions. Attends required training and reads documents to stay up to date with changes in electrical field and codes. Assists with other electrical and non-electrical work with the County as needed. Performs all duties in a safe and efficient manner. Performs all other duties as assigned by supervision.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
High School Diploma Certified Journeyman Electrician with the Alabama Electrical Contractors Board and a minimum of 4 years experience in industrial/utility construction and/or maintenance. Valid Driver's License.

WORKING CONDITIONS
Work is performed both indoors and outdoors with exposure to weather extremes, asbestos, chemical substances, dust, fumes, noise, humidity, odors and the possibility of physical danger while working inside the county jail.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
Work is heavy in nature and consists of standing, lifting, carrying, pushing and pulling of up to 100 lbs., bending, walking, using hands and fingers to operate tools. Must have good vision to read and make necessary repairs.
WRITTEN AND PERFORMANCE EXAMINATIONS
No written or performance examination will be required for this position. Applicants are screened and certified based on an evaluation of their education, training, experience and other requirements as outlined in this Position Announcement and denoted on their Job Application and responses to the Supplemental Questionnaire.
