Summary/Objective The primary objective of the Teacher's Assistant is to provide support to the teacher in charge of the classroom. This position must agree with and support the Staff Member's Covenant, Marriage and Sexuality Statement and agree with/help fulfill CHA's Mission Statement. Supervising students Maintaining classroom tidiness Enjoy working with children Devoted to building a nurturing and safe learning environment Work with the teacher to monitor classroom schedule Assist teacher with lesson preparation by getting materials ready and setting up classroom Oversee students during non-classroom times including in-between classes, during lunch and on field trips Collaborate with teacher to recognize issues students are facing and recommend solutions Document student progress and communicate with parents to keep them informed Comply with state, school, and class rules and regulations Attend staff meetings, committee meetings and all other meetings that are required Attends Professional Development training and devotions throughout the year Competencies (Qualifications) Personal relationship withJesus Christ Knowledge of Health Regulations Communication Proficiency Interpersonal Skills Teamwork Skills Stress Management/Composure Learning Orientation Ethical Conduct Flexibility and Adaptability Initiative Clerical Skills:
Computer, phone, cash register, adding machine. Supervisor Responsibility This position has no supervisory responsibilities. Work Environment This job operates in a professional school environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopies, filing cabinets and fax machines. This position also uses kitchen equipment such as a stove, oven, dishwasher, and refrigerator. Performance Standards Completing tasks well and in a timely manner (before or at due date), while representing Christian Heritage Academy in a way that is glorifying to Christ. Position Type/Expected Hours of Work This is a part-time, 10 month position, payable on a 12-month pay schedule for 35.75 hours per week with days off according to leave and school calendar from August - May. Travel No travel is expected for this position. Physical Demands The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. The school is currently a multi-level facility, which requires this position to navigate flights of stairs regularly to meet responsibilities as it relates to the school. Must be able to speak clearly and orally in person or over the phone to parents, students and/or other employees. Must be able to sit or stand for extended periods of time, have dexterity of hands and fingers to operate office and kitchen equipment, and lift at least 25 pounds. Must be able to bend, kneel, stoop, crouch or climb all day. On occasion, must be able to work longer hours than a typical day for events such as back to school dinner, parent-teacher conferences, and meetings/functions in the evening. Required Education Graduation from high school or GED equivalent. Preferred Education and Experience Bachelor's degree in education or a relevant field is preferred.
