Aug 19, 2026 Job Description The Mount Abraham Unified School District (MAUSD) is seeking an enthusiastic and dedicated Classroom Teacher to join our educational team at Monkton Central School. This job would be for a 5/6 classroom teacher who would be working closely with another 5/6 teacher within our school helping to foster a collaborative and team focused environment. Monkton Central School is a small school (135ish kids) located in an idyllic setting on the north end of Addison County. MCS focuses on student well being, academics and culture while having fun along the way. The successful candidate will be responsible for creating a positive learning environment that fosters the academic, social, and emotional growth of all students while working hard to produce the best students we can. MCS is a fun place to work with a wonderful and supportive staff that have the students' best interest in mind. We welcome all candidates and look forward to you joining the team.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Develop and implement engaging lesson plans that meet the diverse needs and interests of students.
  • Deliver high-quality instruction in accordance with the school's curriculum and educational standards.
  • Assess and monitor student progress through various assessment methods, providing timely feedback to students and parents.
  • Foster a positive and inclusive classroom environment that encourages student participation and collaboration.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date student records, including attendance, grades, and behavioral reports.
  • Communicate effectively with parents, colleagues, and administration regarding student progress and any concerns.
  • Participate in professional development opportunities and stay current with educational best practices.
  • Collaborate with other teachers and staff to support student learning and school initiatives.
  • Manage classroom behavior and create a safe, respectful, and productive learning environment.
  • Participate in school-wide events, meetings, and activities as required.
Physical Demands:
  • Ability to stand and walk for extended periods.
  • Ability to lift and move classroom materials as needed.
Work Environment:
Classroom setting with frequent interaction with students, staff, and parents. The salary range $57,242 - $108,246 is commensurate with experience and in accordance with the Mount Abraham Education Association Collective Bargaining Agreement.
