Elementary Music Teacher

Position Summary:

The Elementary General Music Teacher provides engaging, developmentally appropriate music instruction to students in grades K-6. This role fosters a love of music while supporting creativity, collaboration, and foundational musical skills aligned to state standards.

Key Responsibilities:

Plan and deliver standards-based music instruction for all elementary grade levels Teach fundamental music concepts, including rhythm, melody, harmony, movement, and performance Incorporate singing, instruments, movement, and creative expression into lessons Differentiate instruction to meet diverse student needs and abilities Assess student progress and provide feedback to students and families Create a positive, inclusive classroom environment that supports student engagement and behavior expectations Prepare students for performances and school programs as appropriate Lead 4th-6th grade choir and 6th grade band Collaborate with classroom teachers and staff to support school-wide initiatives Maintain classroom materials, instruments, and equipment Communicate effectively with families regarding student progress and events

Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree in Music Education or related field Valid state teaching license in Music (Elementary/General Music endorsement) Knowledge of child development and elementary instructional strategies Strong classroom management and organizational skills Ability to build positive relationships with students, staff, and families

Preferred Qualifications:

Ability to lead vocal and/or instrumental ensembles Familiarity with integrating technology into music instruction

Work Environment:

School-based setting with regularly scheduled classes Occasional evening events for performances or programs
