Qualifications:
Michigan Elementary Teaching Certificate (JX or JQ) Experience teaching at the elementary level preferred Strong classroom management and instructional skills Knowledge of child development and elementary curriculum
Job Responsibilities:
Plan and implement standards-based elementary music instruction for students in grades K-5 (or assigned grade levels). Teach fundamental music concepts including rhythm, melody, harmony, tempo, dynamics, movement, listening, and music appreciation. Provide instruction in singing, classroom instruments, movement, and performance techniques. Organize and direct student performances, concerts, assemblies, and special programs. Differentiate instruction to meet the diverse learning needs of students. Integrate technology and multimedia resources into music instruction when appropriate. Assess student progress and maintain accurate records of achievement and participation. Use developmentally appropriate instructional strategies to meet the diverse needs of learners Establish and maintain a positive, safe, and respectful classroom environment Implement classroom management strategies consistent with school and district expectations Collaborate with colleagues in grade-level teams and professional learning communities Participate in the development and implementation of IEPs, 504 Plans, and other student support plans Communicate effectively with parents/guardians regarding student progress and classroom expectations Participate in professional development, staff meetings, and school events Uphold district policies, school procedures, and professional ethics The Board of Education does not discriminate on the basis of race, color, national origin, sex, (including sexual orientation and transgender identity), disability, age, religion, height, weight, marital or family status, military status, ancestry, genetic information or any other legally protected category, (collectively, "Protected Classes"), in its programs and activities, including employment opportunities.
