Valid RIDE Certificate as Building Level Administrator PK-12 Master's degree preferred. JOB GOAL
To provide the required curriculum and instructional leadership, as well as the supervisory and administrative management skills to create a learning community characterized by exemplary professional practice and high student achievement in a safe, secure and welcoming school environment.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Acts under the policies established by the School Committee in all matters pertaining to the assigned building(s), including the evaluation of personnel (certified and non-certified). Works with all building and District staff to develop and maintain a positive school climate conducive to effective learning and optimum teaching and characterized by a common purpose, high expectations and success for all. Prepares a school-based budget, requisitions and purchase orders as required. Determines and recommends teacher and building needs for the school year, taking into consideration pupil projections and resources available. Establishes and maintains favorable relationships with local community groups and individuals to foster understanding and solicit support for school objectives and programs; interprets School Committee policies and administrative directives; resolves student problems; encourages community participation in the school's educational program. Functions as the chief administrative officer of the school; implements administrative practices as required toward improving such practices and procedures which will achieve accuracy and efficiency in the operation of the entire school program. Responsible for the selection of personnel and recommends personnel appointments and assignments to the Superintendent. Responsible for and works closely with other principals to ensure proper alignment, articulation and coordination of all phases and functions of curriculum and instruction with the District's goals. Submits reports as required by the Superintendent and other local, regional or state agencies. Keeps pace with changes and developments in the profession by attending professional meetings, reading professional journals and other publications and discussing problems of mutual interest with others in the field. Provides leadership, supervisory and administrative skills to manage assigned school(s) and develop and administer a meaningful educational program that promotes the educational development of each student. Provides the educational leadership necessary to effect and implement meaningful change that ensures the highest level of student achievement, regardless of socioeconomic status; models exemplary instructional practices by facilitating professional learning and collaborative teacher planning. Seeks continuous improvement in all areas of the school's operation through judicious management of all resources, monitoring and assessment of student achievement and evaluation of staff performance to help teachers improve and refine their skills. Ensures that all aspects of the school's operation complement, integrate with and advance the District's strategic plan. Performs related work as required. Attendance is an essential function of all BWRSD positions.
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT
210 days work year and any additional days required by the Superintendent. Salary to be in the range of $115,000 to $125,000 commensurate with experience.
EVALUATION
Performance of this job will be evaluated annually in accordance with provisions of the Bristol Warren Regional School Committee's policy on Evaluation of Administrative Personnel.
