To Be Determined Job Description Comstock Park is seeking candidates who display a strong desire and ability to make an impact on students and the greater community both within and outside of the classroom. This position starts in the 2026-2027 school year.
SUMMARY:
Responsible for planning specially-designed instruction and/or adaptation of the general education curriculum to enable students to benefit from educational experiences.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Builds trust and connections with students. Encourages self-advocacy and disability awareness. Plans lessons and specially-designed instruction aligned to grade level content standards. Instructs individuals and groups related to IEP goals and objectives. Collaborates with education staff to support the implementation of accommodations and differentiation of course content. Follows special education procedures and regulations. Demonstrates classroom management practices to create an environment conducive to learning. Supports in the development and implementation of individual positive behavior support plans. Administers assessments and effectively maintains and monitors student progress. Maintains regular contact and strives to engage with students' caregivers/parents. Provides case management for students with IEPs; bills Medicaid for case management services. Prepares and maintains all relevant special education paperwork; coordinates and facilitates meetings to address student needs. Participates in Special Education Meetings and Parent/Teacher Conferences. Other duties as assigned by the Director of Special Education or his/her designee.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
Supervises students. May be responsible for the daily oversight of the special education paraprofessional.

EXPERIENCE
Bachelor's degree in Special Education. Certificate endorsements needed - LD, CI, or EI Valid Michigan Teaching certificate with one or more special education endorsements. The final candidate for this position will be required (at their cost) to furnish the district with a current Michigan State Police and FBI criminal records LiveScan check prior to our recommendation to hire.
