Exceptional opportunity for a dynamic and compassionate school counselor to join the Region 14 community at Bethlehem Elementary School. The successful candidate will foster an engaging, inclusive, and welcoming school environment that supports students' academic, social, and emotional growth while further cultivating a positive school climate. Region 14 counselors are leaders in their fields who skillfully meet the diverse needs of learners through CT Student Standards-aligned instruction and support grounded in the practices and strategies of the CT Comprehensive School Counseling Framework and the expectations of the CT School Counselor Professional Standards. The BES School Counselor will collaborate with counseling colleagues across the district to ensure horizontal and vertical alignment and continuity of student experiences from PreK-12th grade. The ideal candidate demonstrates a commitment to researching, implementing, and refining effective, dynamic, and developmentally appropriate counseling and instructional strategies. Through classroom lessons utilizing the RULER program, individual meetings with students, and small groups, the school counselor fosters perseverance, communication, empathy, and habits of mind that prepare students for success both in and beyond the classroom.QUALIFICATIONS
Connecticut Certification Endorsement for School Counseling (068) requiredMAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Instruct, guide, and counsel in accordance with Region 14's goals and objectives, the Professional Code of Responsibilities, CT School Counselor Professional Standards, and the district's framework for evaluation and support Acknowledge and respect individual differences in each student, holding high standards for every student while scaffolding for dependent learners to reach standards Plan, design, and deliver a comprehensive, developmental school counseling program Collaborate with counseling colleagues to build, implement, monitor, and evaluate the school counseling framework. Establish and maintain sound relationships with students, parents, fellow teachers, non-teaching personnel, and administrators to work collaboratively in the best interests of the students Seek and act on feedback from colleagues, and administrators Establish and maintain frequent communication with parents, guardians, and families Evaluate student needs based on data and employ a variety of strategies to meet these needs Actively participate in professional learning opportunities provided by the district and incorporate new learning into practices Pursue continuous professional growth to stay abreast of changes in the field Perform additional duties, where appropriate, which are assigned within the scope of employment and certificationSALARY:
