A new position within the Region 14 community, the elementary Spanish teacher will engage students in meaningful Spanish language acquisition experiences with a primary emphasis on developing speaking and listening proficiency. The successful candidate will foster an engaging, inclusive, and positive classroom environment that supports students' academic, social, and emotional growth while cultivating curiosity and confidence in language learning. Region 14 teachers are leaders in their fields who skillfully meet the diverse needs of learners through standards-aligned instruction grounded in State and National Standards. The elementary Spanish teacher will collaborate closely with World Language colleagues in grades 612, as well as the Director of Teaching and Learning, to ensure vertical alignment and continuity of language learning experiences across the district. The ideal candidate demonstrates a commitment to researching, implementing, and refining effective, dynamic, and developmentally appropriate language acquisition strategies. Region 14 educators strive for excellence by engaging students in productive struggle, fostering perseverance, communication, and critical thinking skills that prepare students for success both in and beyond the classroom.QUALIFICATIONS
Connecticut Certification Endorsement for Elementary Education (305) OR Elementary World Language (101) RequiredMAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Instruct, guide, discipline and supervise in accordance with Region 14's goals and objectives, the Professional Code of Responsibilities, and the district's framework for evaluation and support Acknowledge and respect individual differences in each student, holding high standards for every student while scaffolding for dependent learners to reach standards Establish and maintain sound relationships with students, parents, fellow teachers, non-teaching personnel, and administrators to work collaboratively in the best interests of the students Seek and act on feedback from instructional leaders, colleagues, and administrators Establish and maintain frequent communication with parents, guardians, and families Evaluate student needs based on data and employ a variety of instructional strategies to meet these needs Actively participate in professional learning opportunities provided by the district and incorporate new learning into instructional practices Pursue continuous professional growth to stay abreast of changes in the field Perform additional duties, where appropriate, which are assigned within the scope of employment and certificationSALARY:
