DESCRIPTION:
The Special Education Paraprofessional supports students with autism and related developmental needs within a 27J managed separate school classroom at Bob Sakata Education Campus. This role focuses on implementing individualized supports, promoting communication and independence as well as maintaining a structured, predictable environment. The paraprofessional works closely with the classroom teacher and related service providers to ensure consistent, high-quality support for students with varying sensory, behavioral, and learning needs.

This role may also include providing personal care / medical assistance as delegated by the School Nurse.
SALARY:
Classified Grade L, $21.34 per hour to start, depending on relevant experience. 8.5 hours per day, Tuesday through Friday, 9 month work schedule, paid over 12 months. Position is eligible for benefits.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Implement Individualized Education Programs (IEPs), behavior intervention plans (BIPs), and communication supports Provide direct support to students individually and in small groups under teacher supervision Use evidence-based strategies (e.g., visual supports, structured teaching, prompting, reinforcement) Support students with sensory regulation needs using planned strategies and tools Identify and facilitate peer relationships Assist with personal care needs (e.g., toileting, feeding, hygiene) as required Collect data on student progress, behavior, and skill acquisition as directed De-escalate students as needed using approved CPI measures, as well as following the prescribed Behavior Intervention Plan. Attend training as required by the Building Principal, Special Education Teacher, and/or Director of Special Education. Other duties may be assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS
Ability to read and interpret documents such as Behavior Intervention Plans, IEPs, and staff and student handbooks. Ability to collect data and simple correspondences. Must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Must be able to pass a post offer physical upon request. Must be able to pass a Colorado and Federal Bureau of Investigation background check.
REQUIRED EXPERIENCE
High school diploma or equivalent. Experience working with students with with autism and related developmental needs. Bilingual preferred but not required Links to
