SALARY:

WV Professional Teaching Certificate pursuant to WV Code §18A-3-2a Endorsement(s) aligned to job posting Criminal background check conducted pursuant to WV Code §18A-3-10
Additional Minimum Requirements:
Applicants who have recent unsatisfactory evaluations will not be considered eligible for consideration; applicants who demonstrate unsatisfactory interview performance are not eligible for consideration; and, applicants who receive unfavorable reference recommendations will not be eligible for consideration. Applicants who have been dismissed or who have had their contracts non-renewed for cause by another school district are not eligible for consideration. Pursuant to WV Code §18A-1-1: "Classroom teacher": a professional educator who has a direct instructional or counseling relationship with students and who spends the majority of his or her time in this capacity.
PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES
In addition to developing and implementing lesson plans, instruction, and assessments aligned to the WV College and Career Readiness Standards and the district's adopted core and supplemental curriculum programs, the classroom teacher shall exhibit the following performance responsibilities to foster student growth and contribute to the school community: Planning and preparation Demonstrating knowledge: Having expert and up-to-date knowledge of the subject area and curriculum; understanding how students learn and the development stages of different age groups.
Designing instruction:
Creating and preparing lesson plans that are well-structured, engaging, and aligned with curriculum standards; selecting/implementing appropriate resources and technology.
Assessing student learning:
Planning how to evaluate student progress and designing assessments that align with learning goals; establishing clear expectations and criteria for success.
Understanding students:
Demonstrating knowledge of individual students, their interests, learning styles, and varied backgrounds to design differentiated instruction. Classroom environment Creating a respectful culture: Building an environment of mutual respect and rapport with students to foster a positive and safe learning space.
Managing student behavior:
Establishing clear behavioral expectations and procedures to ensure a safe, orderly, and productive learning environment; promoting self-discipline and responding to misbehavior respectfully.
Organizing the classroom:
Arranging the physical space and organizing resources and supplies to maximize accessibility and support student learning.
Instruction Engaging students in learning:
Using a variety of teaching strategies and activities to engage students and maintain their interest, including hands-on projects, questioning techniques, and student-driven activities.
Communicating clearly:
Delivering accurate and coherent instruction with clear directions and expectations; demonstrating strong listening skills to understand students' needs.
Providing timely feedback:
Giving students specific and constructive feedback on their work to guide their progress; encouraging students to reflect on their own learning.
Demonstrating flexibility:
Adapting and adjusting lessons and instructional methods in response to student needs and feedback.
Professional responsibilities Reflecting on teaching:
Systematically evaluating the effectiveness of lessons and instructional approaches to inform future planning.
Collaborating with colleagues:
Working cooperatively with other professionals and staff to share ideas, contribute to school-wide initiatives, and improve teaching practices.
Communicating with families:
Maintaining consistent and professional communication with parents and guardians regarding student progress and well-being.
Participating in the school community:
Making a positive contribution to the wider life of the school, which may include attending school events or participating in extracurricular activities.
Demonstrating professionalism:
Committing to professional ethics, showing reliability and punctuality, and handling conflicts constructively.
Engaging in professional development:
Taking responsibility for personal professional growth by keeping up with current research, attending workshops, and responding to feedback from colleagues.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
The physical demands described are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
