Job Summary:
The Embedded Product Analytics Engineer plays a critical role in transforming embedded system data into meaningful insights that drive product performance, reliability, and continuous improvement. This position combines strong embedded software development, analytics, and controls expertise to support advanced monitoring, diagnostics, and data‑driven decision‑making within complex products. In this role, you'll work closely with software, systems, and controls engineering teams to develop analytics‑enabled embedded solutions using model‑based design, simulation, and control methodologies. By applying tools such as MATLAB and Simulink, along with a solid controls and condition monitoring background, you'll help unlock deeper understanding of system behavior and contribute to smarter, more connected products.
What You Will Do:
Design, develop, and support embedded software solutions that enable product analytics, data collection, and performance monitoring. Apply model‑based development techniques using tools such as MATLAB and Simulink to support simulation, control design, and analytics functionality within embedded systems. Analyze embedded system data to evaluate product behavior, performance trends, and system health, supporting continuous improvement efforts. Develop and apply condition monitoring and advanced controls concepts to enhance product insight, diagnostics, and reliability. Perform technical analysis across hardware, software, and control interfaces to identify issues, assess root causes, and support resolution. Interpret and apply system, software, and analytics requirements to ensure solutions align with product intent and business needs. Collaborate with cross‑functional teams—including systems, controls, software, and product engineering—to deliver robust embedded analytics solutions. Document designs, analyses, and findings clearly to support development, validation, and long‑term product support.
Education requirement:
Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Software Engineering, or a related technical discipline.

Software Development:
Applies strong software development skills to support embedded products and analytics capabilities across the product lifecycle. Develops and integrates embedded software using tools such as MATLAB and Simulink to enable data acquisition, processing, and analytical functionality within embedded environments. Supports implementation of control‑related algorithms and software components that align with system and product requirements.
Analytical Thinking:
Demonstrates strong analytical thinking to interpret embedded system data and evaluate product behavior, performance, and trends. Applies a controls and condition monitoring background to assess system health, identify performance deviations, and support predictive insights. Uses data‑driven analysis to translate complex system outputs into actionable engineering insights that drive continuous product improvement.
Technical Analysis:
Performs detailed technical analysis of embedded systems by evaluating interactions between hardware, software, and control logic. Leverages simulation, control design, and advanced controls concepts to analyze system performance and understand dynamic behavior. Supports troubleshooting and root‑cause analysis through evaluation of telemetry, logs, and model‑based outputs across embedded platforms.
Requirements Analysis:
Interprets product, system, and analytics requirements to ensure embedded software, controls, and analytical solutions align with design intent. Ensures traceability between requirements, simulation models, control designs, and implemented solutions. Partners with engineering teams to clarify expectations, assess impacts, and support successful delivery of embedded analytics and control‑enabled functionality.
Additional Information:
This position requires the candidate to work onsite five days a week at the Mossville, IL office. Domestic relocation assistance is available for this position. Visa sponsorship is NOT available with this position. This position may require up to 20% travel.
Summary Pay Range:
$97,530.00 - $146,290.00 Compensation and benefits offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, job level, market location, job-related knowledge, skills, individual performance and experience. Please note that salary is only one component of total compensation at Caterpillar.
