Job Description

Overview Join our dynamic emergency response team as an Emergency Medical Technician - Basic in Urbana, IL! As an EMT-Basic, you will be the first responder on scene, delivering critical care with energy and compassion. Responsibilities Respond quickly and efficiently to emergency calls, providing essential pre-hospital medical care to patients in diverse settings. Assess patient conditions through thorough physical examinations and vital signs monitoring, utilizing your knowledge of physiology and anatomy. Administer basic life support interventions, including airway management, oxygen therapy, and medication administration when appropriate. Perform patient assessments and triage to prioritize care based on injury severity and medical needs, especially within Level I Trauma Center environments. Utilize medical terminology accurately while documenting patient information, treatment provided, and vital signs in detailed reports. Operate emergency vehicles safely, demonstrating strong driving skills and the ability to handle heavy lifting during patient extrication or transport. Maintain aseptic techniques and proper DME (Durable Medical Equipment) handling to ensure patient safety and infection control standards are met. Requirements Valid EMT-Basic certification with current licensure in Illinois or the ability to obtain it promptly. Prior experience in emergency medicine, urgent care, or hospital settings such as ERs or Level II Trauma Centers is highly preferred. Proven skills in airway management, venipuncture, medication administration, and administering injections. Strong understanding of medical terminology, physiology, anatomy, and vital signs interpretation. Experience with patient care procedures including physical examinations and critical care transport. Ability to perform under pressure with excellent decision-making skills during high-stress situations. Valid driver's license with a clean driving record; capable of heavy lifting and physically demanding tasks required for emergency response activities.
