As Needed | 0.0 FTE Job Summary Responsible for the provision of optimum patient care in accordance with the KY EMS Regulations KRS 311A.140 and all Owensboro Health Muhlenberg Community Hospital-Emergency Medical Service guidelines and protocols. Job Responsibilities Navigates ambulance to the patient's location. Provides stabilization of scene and requests additional assistance as necessary. Determines nature and extent of illness or injury and patient's history from available sources. Administers emergency medical care within scope of practice, including patient stabilization, monitoring, and resuscitation from the scene to receiving medical facility. Contacts medical personnel, reports/records observations, and follows directives from supervising physician or registered nurse. Maintains equipment, restocks supplies, and cleans ambulance as necessary. Responsible for the safe operation of all EMS vehicles in accordance with current Kentucky Motor Vehicle codes. Maintains personal knowledge and skills in order to deliver optimum patient care as an EMT. Stocks and maintains the EMS vehicle and its contents in a state of readiness at all times. Must be able to work with local Fire and Law Enforcement agencies as a team for a coordinated effort on the patient's behalf. Documents all patient care assessments, BLS skills and all service reports in a timely manner. Must be punctual and ready for all shifts. Acts at all times in a professional manner and handles conflict and stressful situations with good judgment. Organizational Responsibilities Adheres to all organizational policies and procedures. Work Experience No experience required Education High school diploma, General Equivalency Diploma (GED) or higher required upon hire Licensure/Certification/Registration EMT
  • Certified Emergency Medical Technician in the state of Kentucky required upon hire AND Driver
  • Valid driver's license and 21 years of age required upon hire AND BLS
  • Certified as a Basic Life Support Healthcare Provider required within 90 days of employment in this position
