Scope and Purpose of Position:
Lead and develop new equipment and processes as well as optimize process flow using Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma techniques applying engineering principles, practices and procedures in a high-volume parts manufacturing environment. Tasks of the
Position :
Lead, instructs and coordinates the work of the plant manufacturing engineering activities and implement innovative, cost effective, manufacturing processes and techniques, which will improve the effectiveness of the manufacturing operations and business systems. Should be focused on product quality & process development such as balancers, etc… Develops prototypes, builds new equipment and processes for new/existing products. Develops schedules and completes activities for projects and process improvements, productivity improvements. Develops and submit for approval new investment proposals for the facility. Interfaces with the customer Product and Development Engineers to discuss engineering problems related to product design and manufacturing processing. Will be responsible for equipment procurement, run-off, pre-pilot, pilot, capability studies, control plans and measurement system analysis. Actively participate and support the Continuous Improvement, Cost Reduction, and Associate Involvement processes. Provide technical expertise and leadership for the timely resolution of manufacturing process and product design problems. Serve as a resource for cause / effect analyses, investigations, statistical studies, and problem-solving analysis. Integrate closely with customer, maintenance, production and quality teams to maximize product quality, production output, and schedule compliance. Maintain product quality, and manufacturing effectiveness through daily troubleshooting and resolution of process difficulties. Providesupport managing manpower, cost, schedule, job sequencing, manufacturing capability and production optimization. Optimize manufacturing processes to provide sustainable gains in cost effectiveness and product performance through statistical analysis, designed experiments, and procedural changes. In support of production and new model activities. Participate on multi-functional teams (Production staff, New Model, R D) to resolve problems and develop new production processes. Start-up new products and equipment (supervise installation, troubleshoot initial production processes, and ensure new products meet requirements, document and transfer to Production). Work with customer to resolve technical/quality issues and provide special products. Participate in activities to include 5S, Kaizen, Quick Hits, Six Sigma, and other related continuous improvement events. Develop and implement the latest State of the Art technologies to improve profitability and Health, Safety, and Quality Other duties as assigned.
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:
Technical know-how typically able to work with minimal supervision. Possesses and applies considerable knowledge of Engineering principles, practices and procedures. Reviews equipment vendor's capability and make recommendation for the selection of vendors based on sound evaluation analysis. To perform this job successfully an individual should have knowledge of computer systems; Spreadsheet software and Word processing software, familiar with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) Six Sigma training / certification and lean manufacturing knowledge desired. Good working knowledge of manufacturing processes Tasks that require continuous reaching, kneeling, grasping, twisting, bending, leaning and extension of upper body. Perform job requirements of a Production Associate as needed. Ability to communicate with station operators and upper management personnel
Job Requirements:
Safety apparel (PPE) and uniform mandatory when Plant side. Work daily assigned shift to include overtime, up to and including production Saturdays, shutdown days, and holidays as needed. Follow all company policies including

14000 and QOS adherence (where applicable) and MAI Companies' (GLA, GSA, IA)
Associate Handbook and Safety Manual Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in manufacturing engineering, Mechanical Engineering or Industrial Systems Engineering. Three to five years prior manufacturing engineering work. Experience in preparing investment proposals, job quoting, cost justifications and capital planning.
