Job Description

Job Description Help for Job Description. Opens a new window. A Snapshot of Your Day As a Development Engineer for Turbine Aerodynamics, you will be responsible for the design and optimization of turbine blades to achieve maximum performance and efficiency. To accomplish this, you will use a variety of 1D, 2D, and 3D flow solvers. You will make design decisions based on the results of fast 1D and 2D design methods or, when required, apply state-of-the-art 3D CFD design tools and perform aerodynamic and multidisciplinary optimizations to identify the best solution. As part of a global team, you will work closely with colleagues in adjacent disciplines such as thermal design, mechanical engineering, and manufacturing to develop turbine components that balance performance, durability, and cost requirements. How You'll Make an Impact
  • Design and analyze axial turbine flow paths and blade geometries using 1D, 2D, and 3D methodologies.
  • Perform 3D flow simulations and aerodynamic optimization of turbine blades.
  • Conduct multidisciplinary analysis and optimization of turbine components while collaborating with cross-functional engineering teams.
  • Develop and implement aerodynamic design tools and methods.
  • Evaluate and interpret test results and field performance data.
  • Lead internal and external research and development programs.
  • Guide teams through complex technical challenges and drive innovative engineering solutions. What You Bring
  • Bachelor's, Master's, or PhD degree in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or a related field.
  • Several years of experience in turbine aerodynamic analysis and design, along with a strong foundation in thermodynamics and/or fluid mechanics.
  • Experience with the aerodynamic analysis and design of turbomachinery components.
  • Strong knowledge of computational fluid dynamics (CFD), simulation, and optimization methods, along with programming experience (e.g., Python) for workflow automation and data processing.
  • Experience with NX CAD software, aeromechanics, or conjugate heat transfer (CHT) simulations is beneficial but not required.
  • Excellent interpersonal and collaboration abilities across diverse organizations and cultures.
  • Applicants must be legally authorized for employment in the United States without need for current or future employer-sponsored work authorization.
Export Control Requirement (ECC): Due to applicable export control laws and regulations, candidates must be a U.S. citizen or national, U.S. permanent resident (i.e., current Green Card holder), or lawfully admitted into the U.S. as a refugee or granted asylum.
