HX5 is currently seeking an Aerospace Cybersecurity Systems Engineer to join our team in Brook Park, Ohio in support of the GEARS contract at NASA Glenn Research Center.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
The selected candidate will support the Space Reactor-1 (SR-1) Freedom Nuclear Power Module (NPM) for Systems Engineering and Integration (SE&I) efforts. SR-1 is the planned NASA spacecraft that will demonstrate nuclear electric propulsion and provide a path to future higher power and longer duration missions, which will be required for missions to Mars. The selected candidate will act as the
SR-1 NPM
Fault Detection, Isolation and Recovery (FDIR) Management technical lead, with the primary responsibilities: Collaborate with NASA, industry partners, and vendor suppliers through NPM design, development, build, integration, launch, and operations. Collaborate with the NPM software teams to define and implement the
NPM FDIR
Management design. Ensure that the FDIR design complies with required practices and conventions used by SR-1. The selected candidate will support the
SR-1 NPM
Lead Systems Engineer, and this effort is monitored by the Science and Space Technology Systems Branch at NASA GRC, which provides leadership in systems engineering to enable science and space technology programs and projects.
Required Skills:
Experience with FDIR Management Knowledge or experience with spacecraft integration at the system and subsystems levels Knowledge or experience with formal systems engineering processes Excellent communication skills for interacting with the NASA team and their industry partners Highly motivated and able to work independently in a high-paced dynamic environment Committed to successful collaboration with the NASA team and industry partners
Desired Skills:
Experience with NASA systems engineering for spacecraft hardware and specifically with
NPR 7123.1
Experience with complete life-cycle for a space flight project Experience with a NASA spaceflight hardware project Experience working with
NASA Education/Experience:
Completed at least a Bachelor of Science degree, from an accredited program, with the following education and experience: Bachelor of Science degree and ten (10) or more years of relevant experience Master of Science degree and six (6) to fifteen (15) years of relevant experience Ph D. with zero (0) to three (3) years of relevant experience
Other Position Requirements:
Proof of U.S. Citizenship or US Permanent Residency is a requirement for this position. Must have a security clearance or the ability to obtain security clearance.
