  • Full-time Momentous Mold & Machine Momentous Mold & Machine provides high-precision tooling and assemblies for mission-critical aerospace & defense programs.
We support the production of space-launch booster engines, helicopter rotor blades, and fighter-jet vertical-takeoff inlet systems— high-consequence applications where failure is not an option .Momentous has ~65 employees and ~35 major CNC machining centers in a 60k sq-ft facility located in Cuyahoga Falls, OH. Project Engineering Role Momentous Mold & Machine is seeking to add a Project Engineer to our staff of 4as we continue to grow. The average project at Momentous is ~$250k and typically consists of an assembly of 3-5+ components manufactured over 6-12+ weeks . Engineers at Momentous drive design and project management functions , working closely with scheduling, operations, and sales. Design occurs primarily in SolidWorks or CATIA. Momentous provides an autonomous, high-impact role for experienced tooling design engineers , while also offering the opportunity to train a high-potential earlier career designer through our bench of tooling experts . Responsibilities:
Design Projects designed by
Momentous:
lead the CAD design (SolidWorks or CATIA) and perform thorough DFM analysis; release prints & models to the shop floor; work with tooling experts at Momentous to account for tooling specifics such as
  • Thermal Expansion & CTE Compensation when designing for autoclave or heated compression molds; Pressure & Sealing Geometry , for autoclave and RTM tools; Fiber Orientation & Preform Nesting for compression and RTM tools Projects designed by the client: Conduct a rigorous "Design Audit" to verify tolerance & machining compatibility before any work begins on the shop floor Project lifecycle management
Ownership :
Act as the primary project manager from the moment the project is won through to final delivery at the client site
Communication :
Partner with Sales to engage with customers on technical changes, engineering updates & schedule status; maintain project timelines
Post-Project Review :
Conduct formal post-mortem meetings to analyze project performance, capture "lessons learned," and ensure all "as-built" documentation is finalized and archived for the client. Shop floor & production control Technical hand-off: Conduct a comprehensive launch meeting with the Manufacturing teams; Deliver finalized prints and CAD files; Clearly communicate design intent, critical tolerances, and identified high-risk areas.
Procurement Support :
Create the bill-of-material & advise purchasing on specifications and technical requirements.
Operational Control :
Partner with scheduling to decide the "Make vs. Buy" strategy for project components. Manage the critical path by synchronizing external vendor lead times with internal machine capacity to prevent production bottlenecks.
Minimum Qualifications:
Education & Experience :
Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or equivalent precision machining / tooling experience.
Design Proficiency :
Demonstrated experience in professional CAD software; proficiency in SolidWorks or CATIA is a bonus.
Technical Background :
Expertise in milling & turning for complex assemblies; knowledge of tool & mold design is a plus (in aerospace, automotive, or industrial sectors) alongside with design-for-manufacturing (DFM) experience
Professional Maturity :
Ability to manage multiple projects concurrently, meet firm deadlines, and represent the company directly to high-profile clients in the aerospace and defense sectors. Experience in customer-facing roles is a plus, i.e., project management, sales, estimating, account executive, etc.
Manufacturing Acumen :
Experience working in a job-shop or production-floor environment where you have collaborated directly with machinists and assembly technicians.
Microsoft Office Knowledge :
Experience with Microsoft Office tools; Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook are required. Microsoft Project is a plus.

Technical Problem-Solving:
Perform DFM analysis to identify and mitigate failure points before production.
Project Leadership:
Skill in maintaining project schedules (Gantt charts/milestone tracking) and communicating technical trade-offs to both clients & internal stakeholders.
Strategic Decision-Making:
Strong "Make vs. Buy" judgment; the ability to evaluate internal capacity versus vendor capabilities to optimize cost, quality, and lead time.
Clear Communication:
Exceptional verbal and written communication skills, particularly the ability to document "lessons learned" and create clear, concise technical instructions for shop-floor personnel.
Entrepreneurial Mindset:
Proactively improve workflows and own project execution from launch to delivery.
