Purpose:
Provide technical leadership and metallurgical/materials expertise for Aerospace facilities and products. Serve as the sole authority for initiating and executing materials-related activities affecting aerospace product engineering, product quality, and shipments. Develop, interpret, and enforce corporate, customer, NADCAP, and internal materials and inspection specifications.
Key Responsibilities:
Lead metallurgical strategy and decisions for materials, ings, castings, heat treatment, and inspection standards across Aerospace operations.
Act as business-unit liaison to the Chief Materials Engineer
- Americas; manage customer interactions and supplier quality issues.
Maintain and integrate customer/industry standards (NADCAP, AS9100, NAS410) into plant operations; plan and conduct audits of internal and outsourced processes.
Approve and drive corrective actions for materials and manufacturing quality findings; rmend and qualify outsource service providers.
Oversee material control and traceability systems (e.g., Material Certification Database), vendor qualification, and document revisions via Teamcenter.
Lead technical evaluation and implementation of new/modified heat-treat, ing, casting, and material processes; coordinate product release with plants.
Manage projects solvingplex supply-chain or manufacturing issues related to bearing materials and heat treatment; present for Materials Council approval.
Provide high-level problem solving and consultation using laboratory and inspection methods (mechanical testing, X-ray, ultrasonic, SEM, etc.).
Develop and mentor metallurgical staff; define and audit metallurgical training andpliance.
Collaborate with Product Engineering, Process Development, and Strategic Sourcing for continuous improvement and new business initiatives.
Required Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Metallurgy, Materials Science, or related field.
Strong knowledge of heat treatment, metal forming, and laboratory evaluation of air melt, remelt, and powdered-metal materials.
Experience with NADCAP and AS9100 requirements and conducting supplier/plant audits.
Project management skills and ability to lead multi-discipline technical projects.
Willingness to travel to internal and external manufacturing sites.
U.S. Citizen or Green Card Holder
Preferred Qualifications:
Master's or PhD in Materials/Metallurgical Engineering.
Experience in industrial production, bearing failure analysis, and bearing heat-treat processing.
This position may require access to United States export controlled technical data ("CTD") and hardware under the Departments of US State (ITAR) and/or Commerce (EAR). Eligible candidates are; US Citizens, Green Card holders, Asylees or others eligible to receive US export license authorizations. Candidate must be authorized to work in the US.
