This position will be located at Amendola Air Base, Italy. The successful candidate will act as part of the Lockheed Martin Aeronautics Field Sustainment (AFS) teams technical interface to the on-site customer (Operations and Maintenance) in resolving issues arising from maintenance or modification activities for all matters dealing with the F-35 aircraft. As a Nose to Tail (NTT) FSE, the preferred candidate will be a Subject Matter Expert (SME) in Avionics/Mission Systems (MS). It is also desired that the individual be an emerging authority in Vehicle Systems / APG (VS), and Supportable Low Observable (SLO)/Structures, with the skill set to accomplish troubleshooting and analysis of MS, VS, and SLO. What You Will Be Doing Responsibilities include:- Accomplish troubleshooting and analysis of difficulties experienced in the field.
- Attend debriefings, to aid in the rapid identification of emerging issues that require company intervention to avoid aircraft downtime.
- Document all unusual operational / maintenance problems to ensure the company is apprised of and can identify emerging failure trends.
- Initiate Action Requests (ARs). Identifying unique operational problems that require technical, procedural, or quality assurance actions to resolve. Provide on-site assistance to company and Customer personnel initiating ARs.
- Provide training to Customer personnel.
- Must be able to work with and interact with the maintainer as well as the professional engineers from other F-35 companies as a peer.
- Must be able and willing to work with an active Military unit both at home station and abroad.
- Must complete all required customer deployment training.
- Applicant must be able to work and communicate well both orally and written in a team environment as this position involves significant and continued interface with customer personnel at all levels.
- Provide support for the assigned site on aircraft ground maintenance and operational limitations.
- Direct on-site support as requested by customer, FSE/Site manager(s) or program management.
- Lead and track multiple engineering tasks/projects, and provide periodic status to Customer and Management.
- Assist with mentoring and training junior level FSEs as needed.
- Ability to perform and operate independently while deployed with customers with minimal supervision.
- Works any shift (including weekends) to support customer needs.
- Some travel required; candidates must be willing and able to deploy with Customer personnel to worldwide and hazardous duty locations. Customer mandated vaccinations may be required.
- United States citizenship is required. Must possess an active Secret Security Clearance, and be able to obtain F-35 Special Program Access.
- Requires a US Passport.

The following Basic Qualifications are skills that a candidate must possess to be considered for this position:- At least 6 years 5th Generation Fighter Aircraft experience (F-22 or F-35).
Note:
At least 4 of those years must include experience troubleshooting Avionics/Mission Systems (MS).- Final Transferable Secret Security Clearance
Desired Skills:
The following Desired Skills are not required but are those skills that would set a candidate apart from other candidates:- Field Service FSE/FSR experience highly desirable
- Well-versed in troubleshooting Mission Systems/Avionics (MS), Vehicle Systems (APG), and Supportable Low Observable (SLO)/structures.
- College or Technical Education in areas of related fields of study (STEM).
- Technical report writing
- Experience with reading and interpreting drawings/schematics .
- Fault Isolation and problem analysis experience at the sub-system level
- Airframe & Powerplant (A&P) license
- Experience with engineering tools to include, but not limited to FSE Vision/VAST, PDM, VAS, JEDI, JARVIS, and CRE.
- Knowledge of CATIA & System/Software Engineering Environment (S/SEE)
- Experience partnering with military operational units
