Job Description:
Who We Are:
The Aerospace Structures section of the Structural Engineering Department focuses on the development and life management of aircraft and spacecraft. It provides turn-key research and development services, state-of-the-art structural analysis capability, and full-scale vehicle to small-scale component testing for all segments of the aerospace community. The Aerospace Structures Section also has a long-established history in supporting USAF Aircraft Structural Integrity Programs (ASIP). Objectives of this
Role:
Work under the direction of a senior engineer to assist in assembling research test rigs, operating tests, recording measurements processing data etc. Obtain meaningful research experience in the areas of structures, analysis, and testing. Apply the acquired knowledge and skills from school in a practical situation. A strong interest in materials testing is desirable. Local Summer Student Position.
Daily and Monthly Responsibilities:
Perform hands-on work in a laboratory environment. Utilize commercial engineering software for design or analysis. This may include computer aided design (CAD), finite element analysis (FEA), or fatigue crack growth analysis. Support analysis and testing. Participate in data acquisition and interpret results to make conclusions about the work. Perform computer-related tasks that include analysis and reporting.
Requirements:
Must be pursuing a Bachelors degree in Aerospace Engineering, Mechanical Engineering or Materials Science & Engineering. 0 years: A strong interest in aircraft, structures, fatigue, fracture, materials A valid/clear driver's license is required.
Special Requirements:
Must be a U.S. person (i.e., U.S. citizen, non-U.S. citizen national, lawful permanent resident, asylee, or refugee) due to ITAR work in section.
