Job Summary
STS Engineering Solutions is hiring Aircraft Power Plant Engineers for remote contract opportunities in the United States. These 1099 contractor roles provide on-call engineering support for aircraft powerplant maintenance operations, with coverage needed for afternoon shifts, midnight shifts, Monday through Friday and 24-hour weekend support.
This role is designed for experienced aviation engineers with strong powerplant knowledge, commercial airline support experience and the ability to provide timely technical guidance for line maintenance, heavy maintenance, MRO support and Aircraft-On-Ground events.
Position Summary
The Aircraft Power Plant Engineer supports continued airworthiness by helping ensure compliance with regulatory and company requirements. This position provides daily engineering support to customers and plays a key role in resolving aircraft powerplant maintenance, repair and operational issues.
STS Engineering Solutions is seeking one or more engineers for remote, on-call support. The ideal candidate will have an extensive background providing engineering technical support for aircraft maintenance operations and the ability to serve as a subject matter expert in powerplant engineering support.
Schedule and Work Arrangement
Remote position in the United States
1099 contractor opportunity
Temporary contract role
On-call support for afternoon and midnight shifts, Monday through Friday
24-hour coverage support on weekends
Travel may be required
Job Responsibilities
Support aircraft line maintenance, heavy maintenance and modification of Airbus powerplants
Provide engineering assistance to Line Maintenance and MRO teams to support aircraft operations, repairs and maintenance
Coordinate with Original Equipment Manufacturers and Designated Engineering Representatives as required to facilitate approved powerplant repairs
Develop detailed work instructions and engineering drawings to accomplish minor and major powerplant repairs
Develop engineering orders to accomplish modifications and alterations
Provide Aircraft-On-Ground support for powerplant installations
Develop engineering procedures, standards and process specifications to comply with manufacturer and vendor Service Bulletins, Airworthiness Directives and other FAA requirements
Determine corrective actions or required investigations when trends indicate a deviation of engine parameters
Investigate and submit recommended troubleshooting actions to Maintenance and Quality Control
Support additional responsibilities as assigned
Required Qualifications
Bachelor of Science Degree in Engineering from an ABET-accredited college or university
Previous powerplant engineering experience within the aviation industry, with an emphasis on commercial airline support
Knowledge and understanding of Original Equipment Manufacturer and Type Certificate Holder technical manuals
Ability to read, write and speak English fluently
Ability to sit and work at a computer for up to 10 hours per day
Strong computer skills with Microsoft Office, including Excel and Word, at an intermediate level or higher
Able and willing to travel as required
High performer with a focus on both quality and quantity
Willingness to comply with Non-Disclosure Agreements and confidentiality policies
Preferred Qualifications
Experience with LEAP-1A, V2500 and/or PW1000G aircraft engines
Experience with Honeywell 131-9 APUs
FAA Airframe and/or Powerplant licenses
Hands-on engine maintenance experience is a plus
Highly developed interpersonal, organizational and communication skills
Experience using data management applications
Experience using TRAX, AMOS, Microsoft SharePoint, Teams and OneDrive is highly preferred
