Job Title:
Regional Materials Engineer -
Masonry Manufacturing PlantsBase Location:
Las Vegas, NV (With frequent regional travel to Golden Valley, AZ)
Job Type:
Full-Time, Plant-Based / Field Work About the Role We are seeking a hands-on, operationally focused Regional Materials Engineer to oversee engineering, quality control, and mix design optimization across our southwest production facilities. In this role, you will split your time between our primary hub in Las Vegas, NV, and our plant in Golden Valley, AZ (Mohave County). You will serve as the technical authority for our concrete block, brick, and aggregate (sand/gravel) product lines, ensuring manufacturing excellence and consistency across both plants.
Key Responsibilities:
Multi-Plant Mix & Formulation Control:
Command, adjust, and optimize raw material formulations for high-volume concrete blocks, pavers, structural bricks, and architectural masonry across both plant locations.
Aggregate & Sand Sieve Analysis:
Continuously audit sand and aggregate gradations, moisture levels, and raw material yields to ensure density, durability, and moisture control.
On-the-Floor Quality Engineering:
Oversee the plants' internal testing environments, running continuous destructive testing (compressive strength, absorption) to strictly enforce ASTM and NCMA standards.
Production Line Troubleshooting:
Identify, diagnose, and resolve manufacturing floor defects on the fly, including cracking, curing room variances, efflorescence, and machine-induced structural faults.
Regional Building Code Compliance:
Ensure all manufactured product lines perfectly meet regional specifications, including Clark County (NV) codes, local Arizona standards, and respective state DOT specifications.
Regional Plant Travel:
Drive and commute regularly between the Las Vegas facility and the Golden Valley, AZ facility to maintain quality parity and oversight (approx. 1.5 hours each way).
Qualifications:
Education:
Bachelor's degree in Materials Science Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Civil Engineering, or a related industrial field.
Experience:
6+ years of engineering experience embedded inside a heavy manufacturing plant (concrete block, precast, pipe, or aggregate processing plants heavily preferred).
Technical Mastery:
Expert knowledge of cement hydration, aggregate packing theories, industrial sand screening, and automated block production equipment.
Travel Requirements:
Valid driver's license and willingness to travel frequently between the Las Vegas and Golden Valley plants.
Physical Demands:
Comfort working in a loud, dusty, non-climate-controlled plant environment and standing/walking the production floor daily.
Pay:
$100,000.00 - $120,000.00 per year
