Jobs › South Yarmouth, MA › Building, Grounds & Energy Managem… Town of Yarmouth Building, Grounds & Energy Management South Yarmouth, MA Apply The Town of Yarmouth is seeking an experienced Building, Grounds & Energy Management Superintendent to lead its Buildings & Grounds Division, including facilities, parks, and cemeteries.
POSITION SUMMARY
Under the direction of the Assistant Public Works Director, the Superintendent plans, directs, and oversees the maintenance, repair, and improvement of Town buildings, grounds, mechanical systems, parks, beaches, athletic fields, and cemeteries. The position establishes goals, manages projects and budgets, oversees energy efficiency initiatives, and ensures high-quality, cost-effective operations. The Superintendent supervises up to 15 full-time and 20 seasonal employees, as well as private contractors, and is responsible for scheduling, performance management, training, employee development, and resolving operational issues.KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Plan, schedule, assign, and supervise Buildings & Grounds staff and contractors. Oversee building, grounds, facilities, and mechanical maintenance and repair projects. Develop and implement preventive maintenance programs. Monitor municipal energy use and identify and implement energy-saving opportunities. Manage energy efficiency programs through Cape Light Compact, Mass Save, National Grid, and other resources. Develop project funding through operating budgets, capital improvement programs, and grants. Prepare project specifications and manage bids, quotations, contracts, and procurement. Participate in architectural and engineering design reviews to improve durability, reduce costs, and minimize maintenance. Manage supplies, materials, project schedules, and budgets. Provide guidance and mentoring to employees and support supervisors. Coordinate with the Regional School Department on energy-efficiency grants and facility projects. Maintain compliance with Massachusetts Green Communities requirements and energy reporting. Serve as staff liaison to the Municipal Energy Committee. Provide quarterly and annual reports and support energy-management grant requirements. Respond to emergency call-outs and assist during snow events. Perform skilled manual work when needed and support Public Works leadership through problem-solving and process improvements.QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor?s degree in Environmental Science, Planning, Engineering, or related field; or equivalent master craftsman-level trade knowledge. 7-10 years of progressively responsible experience in building/grounds maintenance, facilities, mechanical/electrical systems, energy efficiency, and project management. Experience supervising employees and private contractors. Experience with energy management and energy-efficiency projects preferred. MCPPO certification or thorough knowledge of Massachusetts procurement laws and regulations, including M.G.L. Chapters 30B and 149. Ability to prepare and manage IFBs, RFPs, contracts, addenda, and other procurement documents. Massachusetts Class D Driver?s License required. MA Unrestricted Construction Supervisor?s License required. CORI certification required as a condition of employment.APPLICATION PROCEDURE
