Clinical Engineering (Hospital Setting) Position Summary This position is focused on medical equipment planning, healthcare technology implementation, and healthcare capital projects Our client, a leading academic health system, is seeking a Medical Equipment Planner / Project Manager to support healthcare capital projects, hospital renovations, facility expansions, equipment replacement initiatives, and clinical technology implementation projects. This position supports the Manager of Medical Technology Planning and Implementation and serves as a key liaison between Clinical Engineering, Design & Construction, Facilities, IT, Architects, Engineers, Contractors, Clinical Departments, and Equipment Vendors. The successful candidate will coordinate medical equipment planning, budgeting, procurement, installation, commissioning, and activation activities associated with healthcare construction and renovation projects. The ideal candidate will possess a combination of medical equipment planning, healthcare project coordination, capital equipment management, and healthcare construction experience within a hospital or health system environment. Key Responsibilities Support medical equipment planning activities for hospital renovations, expansions, new construction projects, and equipment replacement programs. Collaborate with architects, engineers, contractors, facilities teams, IT teams, and clinical stakeholders to ensure proper integration of medical equipment requirements into project plans and construction documents. Review architectural, engineering, and MEP drawings to validate equipment space requirements, utility needs, infrastructure requirements, and operational workflows. Participate in user group meetings with physicians, nursing leadership, clinical departments, facilities personnel, and project teams to identify equipment needs and operational requirements. Develop and maintain medical equipment inventories, equipment schedules, procurement logs, equipment budgets, and project documentation. Evaluate existing medical equipment and provide recommendations regarding replacement, relocation, reuse, or disposal based on lifecycle status, condition, and operational requirements. Coordinate capital equipment procurement activities including vendor evaluation, quote review, pricing analysis, purchasing support, and delivery logistics. Manage equipment budgets and support cost control initiatives for capital projects and equipment replacement programs. Coordinate equipment delivery, installation, commissioning, activation, and occupancy readiness activities across multiple healthcare projects. Support medical device integration planning and coordination with IT, clinical engineering, and operational stakeholders. Track project schedules, milestones, risks, procurement activities, and installation timelines to ensure successful project delivery. Provide project status reports and updates to department leadership and project stakeholders. Assist with equipment-related inspections, testing, turnover, and project closeout activities. Research emerging medical technologies and support equipment standardization initiatives across the health system. Manage multiple concurrent healthcare capital projects while maintaining schedule, budget, and quality objectives. Minimum Qualifications Bachelor's Degree in Biomedical Engineering, Clinical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Healthcare Technology Management, Healthcare Administration, Nursing, Construction Management, Architecture, Engineering, or a related field. Minimum 5 years of experience in one or more of the following: Medical Equipment Planning Clinical Engineering Biomedical Engineering Healthcare Technology Management Healthcare Capital Project Management Healthcare Construction Project Coordination Experience supporting hospital, healthcare facility, ambulatory care, medical office, or academic medical center projects. Experience coordinating medical equipment procurement, budgeting, installation, activation, or lifecycle management activities. Experience working with architects, engineers, contractors, facilities teams, and healthcare stakeholders on healthcare construction or renovation projects. Knowledge of medical equipment planning processes, equipment utility requirements, healthcare operations, and clinical workflows. Experience managing equipment budgets, schedules, procurement activities, and vendor relationships. Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook), Microsoft Project, Bluebeam, Visio, or similar project management tools. Excellent communication, organizational, presentation, and stakeholder management skills. Preferred Qualifications Experience working within a hospital Clinical Engineering , Facilities, Capital Projects, Design & Construction, or Healthcare Technology Management department. Experience supporting equipment planning and implementation projects involving Imaging, Operating Rooms, Critical Care, Emergency Departments, Laboratories, Sterile Processing, or Ambulatory Care facilities. Familiarity with Revit, Auto
CAD, BIM
environments, equipment databases, or healthcare planning software. Project Management Professional (PMP) certification. Certified Clinical Engineer (CCE), CBET, or other healthcare technology certifications. Experience supporting healthcare capital projects exceeding $5 million.
