About the Position We need someone who can take ideas, sketches, measurements, and general instructions and turn them into accurate 2D drawings and 3D models that our fabrication team can use to build real products. The right person will have a strong understanding of CAD design, mechanical components, and metal fabrication processes. We're looking for someone who can think independently, solve problems, and work directly with management and shop personnel to bring projects from concept to fabrication. Responsibilities Create accurate 2D technical drawings and 3D CAD models for custom metal fabrication and production projects. Develop detailed fabrication drawings with dimensions, material specifications, and assembly instructions. Interpret sketches, measurements, concepts, and general project requirements. Work with management and shop personnel to develop practical fabrication solutions. Design and modify metal components, brackets, assemblies, and custom fabricated products. Prepare drawings for cutting, bending, welding, and assembly. Review designs for accuracy, fitment, and manufacturability. Make revisions and updates as project requirements change. Maintain organized CAD files, drawings, and revisions. Troubleshoot design issues and communicate with the fabrication team to resolve problems.

CAD certification, technical training, or an associate degree in drafting or mechanical design. Equivalent hands-on experience will be considered. A college degree is not required. What We're Looking For We want someone who understands that good design goes beyond making something look right on a computer. Our ideal candidate can take a concept, figure out the details, and create accurate drawings that our shop can use to manufacture the finished product. You should be comfortable asking questions when needed, but also capable of taking initiative and working through design challenges independently. Why Join Scheller Precision Design? Work on a wide variety of custom fabrication and production projects. Be part of a growing company with over 20 years of industry experience.
