Low Voltage DesignerJob SummaryThe Low Voltage Designer is responsible for designing, drafting, and documenting low voltage systems for commercial, industrial, and institutional projects. This role involves preparing design drawings, coordinating with project teams, and ensuring compliance with applicable codes, standards, and client requirements.
Key ResponsibilitiesDesign and develop low voltage systems including:
Access Control SystemsCCTV / Video Surveillance SystemsIntrusion Detection SystemsStructured Cabling SystemsAudio/Visual SystemsIntercom SystemsNetwork Infrastructure SystemsFire Alarm Systems (if applicable)Prepare construction documents, drawings, specifications, and layouts.
Coordinate system designs with architects, engineers, contractors, and clients.
Perform site surveys and field verification when required.
Ensure designs comply with NEC, NFPA, IBC, local codes, and industry standards.
Review project requirements, specifications, and customer needs.
Assist with project planning, budgeting, and equipment selection.
Revise drawings and documentation based on project changes.
Support installation and commissioning teams with technical design information.
QualificationsExperience in low voltage system design and drafting.
Knowledge of structured cabling, security systems, access control, CCTV, and related technologies.
Proficiency with AutoCAD or similar design software.
Understanding of applicable building codes and industry standards.
Strong communication and coordination skills.
Ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines.
Preferred QualificationsExperience with commercial, industrial, or mission-critical facilities.
BICSI certification or other relevant industry certifications.
Knowledge of network infrastructure and telecommunications systems.
Experience coordinating with multidisciplinary engineering teams.
