Headquartered in Orange, CA, BAPKO Metal Inc. is one of California's most reputable and trusted self-performing contractors specializing in structural steel, miscellaneous steel, architectural metals, and stairs. Our quality craftsmanship can be found in the steel structures supporting a diverse range of projects, and in the architectural details enhancing commercial, healthcare, and educational facilities across California. The purpose of this position is to prepare a 3D model, detailed plans, shop drawings, and other documents for the fabrication / erection of steel buildings and to assist the project team through the course of the project.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
include, but not limited to the following: Reviews design drawings for accuracy, completeness, and coordinates resolution of discrepancies and/or missing information with Job Captain. Reviews RFI's, bulletins, etc., that impact changes in scope of work. Coordinates project sequencing and basic detailing job setup including advance bills and shop & erection drawings. Works directly with detailing Job Captain to ensure the timeliness and accuracy of drawings are maintained. Create 3D models using Tekla. Provides effective leadership to junior detailers. Assist fabrication teams with technical questions regarding drawings & material specifications. Address fabrication issues arising during the construction phase. Ability to work independently and as a part of a team. Generate detailed shop drawings and erection plans using Tekla. Incorporate design specifications, project requirements, and relevant building codes into the drawings. Review and back check drawings before submitting to Job Captain. Mentor and review work of junior detailers, providing feedback and guidance. Other duties and tasks may be assigned
Requirements:
PREFERRED EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND OTHER REQUIREMENTS
High school diploma/GED and 5+ years' experience in miscellaneous steel detailing. Proficient with Tekla Structures software. Knowledge of building codes IBC ADA Title 24. Knowledge of AISC standards and AWS codes. Strong background in miscellaneous metals, stairs, structural & architectural detailing.
