About the Company Rummell Jewelry is a continuing legacy that began in 1945 when a WWII veteran opened a custom jewelry studio and repair shop on 16th St. in Denver, CO. John Hanson continued that legacy from 1973 until the Rummell family was fortunate enough to apprentice from John and purchase the store in 2011. Job Overview We are seeking a skilled and detailed-oriented Jewelry CAD Technician to join our custom design team on site in our Littleton, CO shop. In this role, you will bridge the gap between creative concept and bench manufacturing, turning artistic sketches into precise, production-ready 3D models. You will work directly alongside our jewelry designers and bench jewelers to ensure every piece is visually striking, structurally sound, and optimized for casting and stone setting.
Key Responsibilities CAD Modeling:
Translate design sketches, customer notes, and technical specs into high-precision 3D models using Rhino and MatrixGold.
Design Collaboration:
Partner closely with internal designers and bench jewelers to review geometry, stone tolerances, prong placement, metal weights, and structural integrity. 3
D Printing & CAM:
Prepare, slice, and output CAD models (STL files) for high-resolution wax/resin 3D printers; maintain printing equipment and clean/inspect printed models for casting.
Design Revisions:
Perform quick turnarounds on client- or production-requested modifications while maintaining accurate digital asset files.
Production Prep:
Calculate metal weight estimations and gem sizes/counts to assist with job costing and purchasing. Qualifications & Skills Required Software Proficiency Advanced experience with MatrixGold and Rhino 3D (RhinoGold/CounterSketch experience is a plus). Proficiency in file export and slicer software for 3D printers
Technical Knowledge Fine Jewelry Manufacturing:
In-depth understanding of precious metal shrinkage, casting tolerances, pave/bezel setting requirements, and wall thickness limits. 3
D Printing:
Hands-on experience operating, troubleshooting, and maintaining wax/resin 3D printers.
Gems & Diamonds:
Solid knowledge of standard gemstone cuts, shapes, millimeter-to-carat conversions, and setting styles.
Interpersonal & Work Style Strong Communicator:
Ability to collaborate constructively with designers and bench jewelers to solve design challenges.
Detail-Oriented:
Meticulous attention to aesthetic proportions and mechanical accuracy.
Self-Motivated:
Able to manage multiple custom projects simultaneously in a fast-paced environment.
Preferred Experience Bench Experience:
Prior experience with traditional bench jeweling, stone setting, or hand fabrication is highly valued.
Portfolio:
A strong portfolio demonstrating complex jewelry CAD renders, technical layouts, and finished physical pieces Rummell Jewelry by Design is an equal opportunity employer.
