Job Description
Engineer Drafter - Job Description Position Title Engineer Drafter Job Summary The Engineer Drafter is responsible for preparing, revising, and maintaining technical drawings and detailed production documentation in support of engineering projects. The role involves working closely with engineers and project teams to develop accurate designs, drawings, layouts, and production packages while ensuring compliance with company standards, specifications, and applicable codes. Key Responsibilities Prepare detailed engineering drawings, plans, layouts, and schematics using CAD software. Develop and maintain production, fabrication, and construction drawing packages. Assist engineers in drafting, detailing, and design documentation activities. Review engineering sketches, specifications, and calculations to produce accurate technical drawings. Revise and update drawings based on engineering changes and project requirements. Ensure drawings comply with company standards, industry regulations, and project specifications. Coordinate with engineers, project managers, and other stakeholders to resolve design and drafting issues. Maintain drawing registers, document control records, and revision histories. Prepare bill of materials (BOMs), material take-offs, and supporting technical documentation as required. Support manufacturing, fabrication, and construction teams by providing accurate drawing information. Participate in design reviews and quality assurance processes. Perform other drafting, detailing, and engineering support duties as assigned by the supervisor. Qualifications Diploma, Associate Degree, or Technical Certification in Drafting, Engineering Technology, or a related field. Proficiency in AutoCAD, MicroStation, SolidWorks, Revit, or other relevant CAD software. Strong understanding of engineering drawing standards, symbols, and practices. Ability to interpret technical specifications, sketches, and design concepts. Good communication and teamwork skills. Strong attention to detail and organizational abilities. Preferred Skills Experience in mechanical, civil, structural, electrical, or architectural drafting. Knowledge of manufacturing, fabrication, or construction processes. Familiarity with document management and quality control procedures. Ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines. Reporting Relationship Reports directly to the Engineering Manager/Supervisor and works collaboratively with engineers, designers, project managers, and production personnel.
