Job Description
SolidWorks Designer / CAD Technician Job description: Oliveri Millworks is a custom high-end architectural millwork operation located in West Palm Beach, FL. We fabricate a custom line of mahogany, steel, stainless steel windows and , interior doors, and custom woodwork.
Position Summary:
We are looking for a candidate to join our team that has previous experience in project management and architectural drafting. Position Summary The SolidWorks Designer / CAD Technician is responsible for creating accurate 3D models, fabrication drawings, and production documentation using SolidWorks. This role works closely with Engineering, Project Management, Purchasing, and Production to ensure products are designed efficiently, meet project specifications, and are ready for manufacturing. Essential Responsibilities Create and maintain 3D models, assemblies, and detailed manufacturing drawings using SolidWorks. Develop fabrication and production drawings with accurate dimensions, tolerances, and material specifications. Review architectural plans, engineering drawings, and customer specifications to produce manufacturing documents. Modify existing models and drawings based on engineering revisions, RFIs, or approved change orders. Generate Bills of Materials (BOMs) and cut lists. Prepare drawings for CNC programming and manufacturing when required. Coordinate with Project Managers, Estimators, Purchasing, and Production to resolve design issues. Ensure all drawings comply with company standards, industry codes, and project requirements. Verify product dimensions and fit prior to production. Maintain organized drawing files, revision history, and document control. Assist with product development and design improvements. Participate in design reviews and recommend solutions to improve manufacturability and efficiency. Support the production team by answering technical questions and providing drawing revisions as needed. Qualifications Associate's degree or technical certification in Drafting, Engineering Technology, Mechanical Design, or related field preferred. 2+ years of experience using SolidWorks in a manufacturing environment. Proficiency with SolidWorks Parts, Assemblies, and Drawings. Experience creating fabrication drawings and BOMs. Ability to interpret architectural, mechanical, and structural drawings. Strong understanding of manufacturing processes and design for manufacturability. Proficient in Microsoft Office. Experience with ERP/MRP software is a plus. Knowledge of AutoCAD is preferred. Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Strong attention to detail and accuracy. Excellent problem-solving and critical-thinking skills. Ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines. Strong organizational and communication skills. Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team. Understanding of geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (GD&T) is preferred. Preferred Experience Experience in one or more of the following is highly desirable: Custom windows and doors Architectural millwork Metal fabrication Glass and glazing systems Aluminum fabrication Manufacturing and production environmentsWork Location:
