The Leidos Defense Sector has an exciting opportunity for an Engineering Drafter / SolidWorks Specialist to support the U.S. Army Combat Capabilities Development Command - Soldier Center (DEVCOM SC) mission in Natick, MA. This role offers the chance to showcase your CAD expertise, contribute to high impact engineering initiatives, and support critical "can't fail" missions that directly benefit the warfighter. About the Role As a SolidWorks Migration Specialist & CAD Drafter, you will drive the conversion of a legacy 2D AutoCAD drawing library into fully detailed, design intent driven 3D SolidWorks models and assemblies. You will ensure models accurately reflect real world components, BOMs remain precise and complete, and data integrates seamlessly into our PTC Windchill PLM system. The ideal candidate thrives in a technical environment, enjoys solving complex modeling challenges, and excels at transforming legacy designs into modern, parametric CAD models. What You'll Be Doing (Responsibilities) Support and Lead migration of legacy 2D AutoCAD drawings into fully parameterized 3D SolidWorks models Build complex, fully constrained 3D assemblies using industry standard practices and robust mating strategies Generate and validate accurate Bills of Materials (BOMs) within SolidWorks and Windchill Apply Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing (GD&T) per
ASME Y14.5
standards Collaborate closely with engineering, manufacturing, and assembly teams to ensure migrated models meet design requirements and accurately represent physical products Ensure CAD data is structured, consistent, and properly managed within the PLM environment Required Experience, Skills, and Education Bachelor's Degree in Drafting & Design, Mechanical Engineering, or related discipline with 4+ years of experience (additional experience/training/certifications may be considered in lieu of degree) US Citizenship; must be able to obtain and maintain a Common Access Card (CAC) 3+ years of professional SolidWorks experience with emphasis on top down/bottom up assemblies, sheet metal, weldments, or large assemblies Strong AutoCAD skills and experience interpreting and converting legacy 2D drawings Proficiency in 3D modeling and creating detailed drawings directly from models Solid background in production quality drawings compliant with
ASME Y14.5
Ability to model fabricated parts and create accurate technical drawings Strong understanding of
ANSI/ASME
dimensioning and tolerancing practices Experience with mechanical, electrical, and textile design drafting Exceptional attention to detail Preferred Experience, Skills, and Education Experience working with Army drawings or DoD engineering documentation Knowledge of DoD and ASME drafting standards and best practices Hands on experience with PTC Windchill PLM for managing CAD assemblies, parts, drawings, and engineering change workflows
CSWP/CSWE

Pay Range:
Pay Range $87,100.00 - $157,450.00 The Leidos pay range for this job level is a general guideline only and not a guarantee of compensation or salary.
