Full-Time Position Overview. This position creates accurate solid models, detail drawings, and assembly drawings from original engineering documentation. The CAD Specialist reviews customer drawings and specifications, develops shop fabrication drawings, and generates bills of materials to ensure efficient and precise manufacturing of aircraft components and restoration parts. Reporting to the Engineering Design Manager, this role demands high attention to detail, strong technical skills, and a commitment to producing error-free designs that minimize scrap and rework.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Design & Drafting Create solid models, detail drawings, and assembly drawings from provided original engineering drawings and specifications. Produce high-quality shop fabrication drawings and accurate bills of materials for internal fabrication and external vendors. Modify and improve existing parts and assemblies to enhance manufacturability and resolve issues identified during fabrication. Collaboration & Continuous Improvement Work closely with customers and fabrication teams to review and refine designs for better performance and producibility. Study fabrication issues and proactively identify opportunities to reduce scrap, rework, and production inefficiencies. Collaborate effectively with team members to communicate project needs and meet CAD team delivery schedules. Documentation & Productivity Complete and maintain all required paperwork, records, and documentation. Work efficiently and independently with minimal supervision while maintaining high productivity and quality standards. Adapt quickly to changing tasks and project requirements. Safety & Professional Development Maintain safe work habits, use proper PPE, and identify potential hazards to protect personnel and property. Organize supplies and equipment for maximum efficiency. Seek opportunities to build new skills and continuously improve work habits and design quality. Perform additional duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum 5 years of professional experience with CAD software. Solid understanding of drafting techniques, engineering terminology, and 3D surfacing. Ability to read and interpret dated two-dimensional drawings and technical documentation. Mechanical aptitude and ability to perform basic mathematical calculations. Strong computer skills with daily proficiency in computer-based and online software systems. Excellent attention to detail and ability to produce error-free engineering drawings. Ability to read, write, and speak English clearly. Physical capability for prolonged periods sitting at a desk working on a computer and lifting/pulling objects up to 30 pounds. Passion for aviation, historic aircraft, or precision manufacturing is highly desirable.
COMPENSATION
$28.00 - $40.00/hr
