Job Description

Position Summary We are looking for an experienced Draftsperson to support our construction team with a focus on Division 8 scopes, including glazing, doors, frames, and related architectural openings . This role is an important bridge between estimating, project management, and field execution. The ideal candidate will be able to take project requirements, plans, specifications, and estimator takeoffs and turn them into accurate, constructible shop drawings and related drafting documents . Experience preparing glazing shop drawings is highly preferred. Candidates with strong construction drafting experience in Division 8 or related architectural scopes are encouraged to apply. The goal of this position is to provide dedicated drafting capacity so our estimators can spend more time estimating and pursuing new work rather than preparing or revising drawings. Key Responsibilities Prepare detailed shop drawings, fabrication drawings, and installation drawings for construction projects. Develop drawings for Division 8 scopes , including: Storefront Curtain wall Entrances and doors Aluminum framing Glass and glazing systems Windows Hardware and related architectural openings Review architectural drawings, specifications, elevations, details, and project requirements. Translate estimator takeoffs and project information into clear, accurate drafting documents. Incorporate field dimensions, project conditions, manufacturer requirements, and applicable specifications into drawings. Coordinate drawings with project plans and other trades to identify potential conflicts or discrepancies. Prepare revisions based on architect, general contractor, engineer, customer, or internal review comments. Maintain organized drawing files and revision histories. Communicate with estimators, project managers, vendors, manufacturers, and field personnel to resolve drafting questions. Assist with material takeoffs, dimensions, and other technical information when needed. Help establish and maintain consistent drafting standards and templates. Identify potential constructability issues before drawings reach the field. Support the estimating and project management teams with drafting and technical documentation as project needs arise. Required Qualifications 2+ years of experience in construction drafting, architectural drafting, or a related technical drafting role . Experience reading and interpreting construction drawings and specifications . Demonstrated ability to produce accurate, detailed technical drawings. Strong understanding of dimensions, elevations, sections, details, and architectural plans. Proficiency with AutoCAD or a comparable CAD program . Strong attention to detail and accuracy. Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines. Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with estimators, project managers, and field personnel. Strong communication and problem-solving skills. Preferred Qualifications Experience with Division 8 construction scopes . Direct experience preparing glazing shop drawings . Experience with storefront and curtain wall systems. Experience with aluminum entrances, framing, and architectural glass. Familiarity with manufacturers' systems, product specifications, and installation requirements. Experience working for a glazing contractor, subcontractor, general contractor, architectural firm, or building-products manufacturer. Familiarity with construction estimating and takeoff processes. Experience working with architects and general contractors through the shop drawing/submittal process.
Pay:
$60,000.00 - $80,000.00 per year
