Job Description:

Project work will require performing engineering calculations that may include: structural analysis of poles, guying, cable pulling, electric demand, fault currents, and coordination of protective devices. Assignments may also include: preparing forestry trimming requests, facilitating permit and Right-of-Way acquisition, development of a BOM, estimating costs, and customer advocacy such as acquiring easements or calculating a customer Contribution in Aid of Construction (CIAC).

Distribution Designer Responsibilities:

Duties may include work package development of overhead, underground residential distribution, and underground cable/conduit, field visits or field engineering of project requirements, identification of conflicting utilities, engineering and design calculations, and post-construction reviews.

Distribution Designer Required Education & Experience:

2-year technical degree or H.S. Diploma with less than 2 years of relevant experience.

Preferred Qualifications:

Experience with Maximo, AutoCAD, and Geographic Information Systems (GIS) is a plus Familiarity with Pole Loading software (DDS, O-Calc, SPIDA Calc, Pole Foreman, LD Field) Proven ability to communicate with clients and project teams Excellent verbal and written communication skills Experience with projects in electric utility distribution design Ability to read and seek information through various client supplied documents/standards Familiarity with MS office programs Strong understanding of mathematics.
