PURPOSE/SUMMARY

The VDC MEP Detailer I supports the development of accurate and coordinated 3D models for mechanical, electrical, and plumbing (MEP) systems in support of construction projects. This entry-level role focuses on learning and applying VDC/BIM standards, software tools, and modeling workflows to help ensure systems are clash-free, constructible, and compliant with project requirements, while collaborating closely with internal and external project teams under the guidance of senior detailers and project leadership.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES

Demonstrate a strong desire to learn VDC/BIM standards and workflows while accepting feedback and coaching to build technical and professional skills. Attend project meetings to understand requirements, tasks, and expectations; communicate questions to your Lead Detailer or Project Manager. Support timely updates to stakeholders on assigned tasks. Work closely with senior detailers and quality control to ensure accuracy and constructability of MEP content for 2D and 3D deliverables. Assist in identifying clashes and modeling inconsistencies. Help develop and manage project-specific models using company standards. Maintain schedules, views, naming conventions, and required parameters under supervision. Develop working knowledge of VDC software such as AutoCAD, Revit, Fabrication CADmep, BIM 360, Revizto, Stratus, and Navisworks. Use Revit for modeling and basic family use; use Navisworks for model review and clash detection. Learn to interpret P&IDs and construction documents to assist in detailing MEP systems Gain exposure to shop fabrication and field installation practices. Begin developing familiarity with contract documents, building codes, and utility specifications. Assist in producing plan, section, and 3D views in Revit that comply with ISAT standards.

QUALIFICATIONS

Entry-level position; prior VDC/BIM, CAD, or construction-related education or internship experience preferred. Strong interest in MEP systems, construction technology, and 3D modeling. Willingness to learn new software and technical standards. Ability to take direction, accept feedback, and work collaboratively in a team environment. Strong attention to detail and organizational skills. Effective communication skills, both written and verbal. Basic proficiency with Microsoft Office; exposure to Revit, AutoCAD, or Navisworks is a plus.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

Ability to sit, stand, and walk for extended periods. Ability to use a computer and standard office equipment. Occasional lifting up to 25 lbs may be required.
