Product Development FLSA Status:
Non-Exempt Position Summary Thompson/Center Arms is seeking a highly skilled Design Drafter to support the development of precision firearms and components built on a legacy of American craftsmanship. This role is responsible for creating accurate, production-ready mechanical drawings and tooling solutions using SolidWorks , while applying
ASME Y14.5 GD&T
standards . The ideal candidate brings strong design fundamentals, manufacturing knowledge, and a commitment to detail, accuracy, and on-time execution. Duties and Responsibilities Develop complex, detailed part and assembly drawings in accordance with
ASME Y14.5
standards. Collaborate closely with engineers, designers, and manufacturing teams to review and refine designs. Revise and update drawings based on internal feedback, manufacturing input, and engineering changes. Perform tolerance stack-up analysis to ensure proper fit, function, and manufacturability. Utilize SolidWorks PDM to manage design revisions, part history, and documentation control. Detail components and assemblies for production and supplier use. Design tooling, fixtures, and gauging to support manufacturing processes. Drive assigned projects to completion on or ahead of schedule, proactively communicating risks or roadblocks. Provide drafting and design support across multiple projects as needed. Maintain organized, accurate documentation that supports T/C's quality and compliance standards. Education, Skills, and Experience Associate's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Drafting, or a related field required; Bachelor's degree preferred, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Minimum of 5 years of related drafting and design experience in a manufacturing environment. Strong experience designing tooling, fixturing, and gauging . Proficiency in SolidWorks and SolidWorks PDM required. Experience with 3D printing preferred. Demonstrated ability to create drawings compliant with
ASME Y14.5 GD&T
. Ability to use basic measuring devices (calipers, micrometers, etc.). Knowledge of metallurgy and material selection preferred. Strong problem-solving skills with exceptional attention to detail and accuracy. Ability to manage tight deadlines and perform effectively in a fast-paced, production-driven environment. Clear and effective written and verbal communication skills with strong interpersonal abilities. Working Conditions Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer performing repetitive tasks. Regular use of hands and arms for reaching, handling, bending, and twisting. Ability to lift up to 40 pounds . Required to wear Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) where applicable.
