We are looking for a meticulous and experienced Drawing Checker to join our dedicated team and uphold our standards of excellence. Position Overview The Architectural Metal Drawing Checker plays a critical role in our project workflow, serving as the final quality control checkpoint before drawings are released for fabrication. This individual is responsible for meticulously reviewing shop drawings to ensure accuracy, completeness, and constructability. The ideal candidate has a deep understanding of the construction process, architectural metal fabrication, and the ability to read and interpret complex construction documents. Key Responsibilities Perform thorough reviews of 2D and 3D shop drawings for custom stairs, railings, cladding, and other architectural metal components. Verify shop drawings against architectural and structural contract drawings, project specifications, field measurements, and RFIs to ensure all requirements are met. Check for accuracy in dimensions, material specifications, weld symbols, finish callouts, and hardware requirements. Ensure drawings comply with internal company standards, industry best practices (AISC, NAAMM), and relevant building codes (IBC, ADA). Identify potential issues related to fabrication efficiency, site installation, and constructability, proposing effective solutions. Clearly and concisely mark up drawings with required corrections and revisions. Collaborate closely with our team of detailers, project managers, and fabrication staff to resolve discrepancies and ensure clarity. Maintain accurate records of drawing reviews, revisions, and approval status. Required Qualifications & Skills Minimum of 5 years of experience in a checking, detailing, or drafting role within the architectural metal or miscellaneous metals industry. Expert proficiency in reading and interpreting architectural and structural construction drawings is mandatory. Strong understanding of metal fabrication processes (welding, bending, forming, machining) and installation methods. Proficiency with AutoCAD Inventor is helpful. 2D and/or 3D Keen attention to detail and an unwavering commitment to accuracy. Excellent communication skills, with the ability to provide clear, constructive feedback to the detailing team. Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities. Ability to manage deadlines and work effectively on multiple projects simultaneously. What We Offer Hourly pay $18 to $30 (dependent on experience).
