MTI Instruments, a Vitrek company, is seeking a Mechanical Designer/Drafter to support our expanding product development initiatives. This full-time, onsite role is based in Albany, NY, where you'll collaborate with a local engineering team while also working with the larger Vitrek family to solve complex design challenges. You will report to the Mechanical Team Manager and play a critical role in our innovation process.
What You'll Do:
Create, update, and maintain engineering documentation under the guidance of the Mechanical Team Manager. Develop 2D/3D CAD solid models, technical drawings, Bills of Materials (BOMs), and electrical design files. Support and lead design tasks, assisting in the building and testing of prototype products. Work with Autodesk AutoCAD, Autodesk Inventor, SolidWorks, SAP Business One, Engineering Change Notice (ECN) systems, Adobe Acrobat, Microsoft Office Suite, and more. What You'll Need to
Succeed:
✔ Proficiency in 2D design using Autodesk AutoCAD Mechanical. ✔ 3D Solid Modeling experience in Autodesk Inventor and/or SolidWorks. ✔ Associate degree (or higher) in a relevant Engineering Technology discipline from an ABET-accredited college/university. ✔ 2+ years of relevant experience in mechanical design and drafting. ✔ Strong understanding of engineering concepts and experience in mechanical system and product design. ✔ Excellent communication and presentation skills. ✔ Familiarity with machine tools (lathes, mills, CNC, additive manufacturing). ✔ Knowledge of drawing documentation standards (ASME Y14.5). ✔ Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
