Job Description
J.A. Sauer Co. is a growing, prosperous, long standing company dedicated to providing customers with comfort, reliability, and energy savings through its HVAC products and services. To meet its growth opportunities, J.A. Sauer Co. is adding to its Project Management and Drafting department and seeks a talented individual for the position of HVAC Drafting Technician. (Full-Time, Mon-Fri, 7:30 A - 4:30P) Experienced Working closely with the project installation team, your role would involve drafting and for HVAC project installations and your contribution will help enable the company to manage its business volume in a steady, continuous manner.
Key duties would include:
- Read and understand equipment and material submittals, incorporate those submittals into install coordination drawings and mark submittals for quantities once drawings are complete.
- Create install coordination drawings based on a schematic plan from predetermined scopes/designs, schematic plans, or sketches, whether created in house or externally.
- Review information provided to established specifications and standards while following J.A. Sauer CAD drafting standards and template.
- Provide accurate layout, design, and details on drawings to relay the intended installation plan accurately and efficiently to the field install staff.
- Locate equipment maintaining all service/maintenance clearances.
- Work with supervisor to resolve discrepancies between original design intent and practical means and methods.
- Prioritize workload to keep pace with construction and stay ahead of field install staff.
- Understand sequencing of construction to plan work.
- Complete accurate material takeoffs for shop fabricated materials as well as sheet metal purchased materials as shown on install coordination drawings.
- Assist in field measure work.
Key qualifications include:
- Must meet at least one of the following: o 2-year degree or certificate in CAD modeling/drafting o Or 1-4-year experience in CAD modeling/drafting HVAC related experience is helpful but not required.
- Proficient skill using AutoCad 2D design software (required)
- Proficient skill using AutoCad 3D design software or Revit/BIM software (desired) Microsoft office - word, excel, outlook.
