Construction / Precast Concrete / Residential Construction Direct Hire Position Position Summary We are seeking an experienced and detail-oriented CAD Draftsman to join our design and production team. This position is responsible for preparing accurate drawings for residential and construction projects using AutoCAD. The CAD Draftsman will work from architectural plans, structural drawings, specifications, and project information to develop preliminary drawings, contract drawings, and final production drawings used for manufacturing and installation. The ideal candidate has a strong understanding of construction drawings, excellent attention to detail, solid math skills, and the ability to manage multiple projects while meeting deadlines. Key Responsibilities Prepare preliminary and submittal drawings based on architectural plans, structural drawings, specifications, and project requirements. Create detailed CAD drawings for residential foundation and precast concrete projects. Read, interpret, scale, and transfer information from architectural and structural blueprints into AutoCAD. Develop contract drawings for customer review and approval. Create accurate production and manufacturing drawings based on approved project designs. Review drawings to ensure compliance with product specifications, design standards, and project requirements. Process drawing revisions, redlines, and change orders accurately and efficiently. Maintain accurate records of project and drawing changes. Work closely with sales, manufacturing, construction, engineering, and installation teams. Communicate project information and drawing requirements with internal departments. Communicate with architects, engineers, contractors, customers, and other project representatives when needed. Review project measurements, dimensions, specifications, and construction details for accuracy. Assist with estimating project materials and costs when required. Answer technical questions regarding drawings, specifications, and project details. Assist with additional drafting and design projects as needed. Maintain organized electronic project files and drawing documentation. Prioritize multiple projects to ensure drawings are completed accurately and on schedule. Qualifications Associate degree in Architectural Drafting, CAD Technology, Engineering Technology, or a related field preferred. Previous architectural or construction CAD experience preferred. Proficiency with AutoCAD. Strong ability to read and understand architectural and structural blueprints. Understanding of residential construction methods and terminology. Strong mathematical skills, including working with dimensions, measurements, and fractions. Ability to visualize completed projects from drawings, concepts, and specifications. Excellent attention to detail and accuracy. Strong problem-solving and critical-thinking skills. Ability to follow instructions and established drafting standards. Ability to prioritize assignments and manage multiple projects simultaneously. Strong verbal and written communication skills. Ability to work independently as well as part of a team. Proficiency with Microsoft Word and Excel. Experience with QuickBooks is helpful but not required. Preferred Experience Residential construction drafting Foundation or structural drafting Precast concrete design Architectural drawings Structural blueprints Production or manufacturing drawings Construction plan revisions and redlines AutoCAD drafting Construction estimating Ideal Candidate The ideal candidate is self-motivated, dependable, and highly detail-oriented. This individual should be comfortable working with technical construction documents and communicating with multiple departments to ensure drawings accurately reflect project requirements. The successful candidate will be able to take a project from the initial architectural or structural plans through customer approval and final production drawings while maintaining accuracy and meeting project deadlines.
