Job Title:
Drafter (AutoCAD | Electrical / Energy Infrastructure) Job Description We are seeking a Drafter to support electrical engineering projects within the natural gas and power distribution space. This role focuses on converting engineering drawings from MicroStation to AutoCAD , maintaining documentation, and supporting standards‑driven engineering projects. The drafter will work closely with a small team of electrical engineers, incorporating redlines, updating bills of material, and ensuring drawings meet established design and drafting standards. This position offers hands‑on technical growth in a highly specialized and consistently busy energy infrastructure environment. Key Responsibilities Convert engineering drawings from MicroStation to AutoCAD with a high level of accuracy Update bill of material (BOM) descriptions to reflect current designs, components, and standards Incorporate engineer redlines and revisions into drawings and documentation Follow all company and project design and drafting standards consistently Execute, organize, and maintain drawing revisions and standards updates in a traceable, structured manner Perform self‑checks and quality reviews to ensure compliance with project requirements Collaborate with electrical engineers to complete deliverables on schedule Manage workload priorities and communicate progress and timelines effectively Support additional drafting and cross‑functional project needs as requested Required Qualifications 2+ years of AutoCAD 2D drafting experience Strong proficiency creating, modifying, and organizing 2D AutoCAD drawings Foundational understanding of electrical equipment, components, and systems Ability to interpret electrical design concepts and apply them to drafting work High attention to detail and strong self‑review / quality control habits Ability to follow and apply drafting and design standards consistently Strong collaboration and communication skills Organized approach to managing revisions, documentation, and standards Preferred Qualifications Electrical drafting experience in power distribution , utilities, or related systems Familiarity with AutoCAD Electrical or similar electrical design tools Exposure to natural gas, oil, pipeline, or power distribution projects Education or background in electrical design or electrical engineering concepts Experience working in standards‑driven environments with documented procedures Ability to learn and adopt new standard operating procedures quickly Interest in long‑term technical growth within the energy and pipeline industry Work Environment & Schedule Monday-Friday schedule On‑site during the first month for training and SOP onboarding After training: Hybrid schedule , approximately every other week in the office (about two weeks per month), with some flexibility for strong candidates Quiet engineering office environment Close collaboration with 3-4 electrical engineers serving as technical SMEs and mentors Casual dress code and team‑oriented culture Job Type & Location This is a Permanent position based out of Owensboro, KY. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $20.00 - $34.00/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
