This is a full-time contract-to-hire Office Based assignment with our client (hybrid schedule after initial training period). This position offers a competitive package including benefits, vacation and holidays. Overview of YOUR role as a CAD Technician I This full-time, in-office role offers hands-on training and collaboration during the first few months. Once you're up to speed and familiar with workflows, you'll transition into a hybrid schedule, balancing remote flexibility with occasional in-office work. As a CAD Technician I, you'll play a key role in bringing engineering concepts to life, working closely with engineers and field teams to transform ideas into precise technical drawings.
Please note:
Candidates selected for this role will be required to complete an AutoCAD skills assessment. As a CAD Technician I YOU will:
  • Take rough sketches or verbal instructions from engineers and convert them into detailed CAD drawings using AutoCAD
  • Create construction plans, topographical profiles, and maps for gas pipeline projects
  • Draft structural details, plotting profiles and cross-sections using topographical data
  • Support field survey crews by gathering measurements and data needed for drawing updates
  • Calculate layouts, rights-of-way, and street dimensions
  • Design concrete and steel supports for both above-ground and underground pipeline systems
  • Create both preliminary and final sketches throughout the project lifecycle
  • Generate as-built drawings to reflect the final state of completed projects
  • Revise drawings based on feedback from engineers or design coordinators
  • Use survey data to produce contour and erosion control drawings
  • Work independently in a remote environment and meet deadlines YOU are the ideal CAD Technician I candidate if you have:
  • Strong working knowledge of AutoCAD (required)
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills
  • Ability to work independently in a remote environment and meet deadlines
  • Detail-oriented with strong technical skills
  • Ability to interpret rough sketches and verbal instructions from engineers
  • Understanding of construction plans, profiles, and technical drawings
  • Ability to work hands-on with engineers and field teams
  • Willingness to complete an AutoCAD skills assessment It's a BONUS if you have:
  • Associate of Applied Science (AAS) degree in Design and Drafting Technology or a related field
  • Experience in utility or pipeline drafting
  • Experience with topographical data and survey data
  • Familiarity with gas pipeline projects
