Job Description
Description Actalent is seeking a Substation Drafter/Designer to join our growing Power Delivery team. In this role, you will support the design and drafting of electrical substations projects. This individual will collaborate with engineers and project managers to produce high-quality drawings and models that meet client standards and project requirements.
Responsibilities Included:
- Prepare detailed substation design drawings including one-line diagrams, schematics, wiring diagrams, and layout plans.
- Develop 3D models and 2D drawings using CAD software (AutoCAD, MicroStation, or similar).
- Interpret engineering drawings and specifications to create accurate design documents.
- Perform assignments under the direct supervision of a Project Manager.
- Coordinate with engineers and other disciplines to ensure design accuracy and client standards compliance.
- Attend meetings with clients and maintain a good working relationship with the clients, sub-consultants and sub-contractors.
- Maintain drawing standards and adhere to HDR's quality control processes.
- Assist in preparing material lists and bills of materials.
- Support design revisions and updates throughout the project lifecycle.
- Collaborate ensuring effective communication with team members across multiple offices.
- Stay current with industry standards, codes, and best practices for substation design.
- Perform other duties as needed.
Additional Skills & Qualifications Required Qualifications:
- 2+ years experience in Drafting and/or Design
- Electrical Substation experience highly preferred
- Utilities/power delivery experience desired
- Track record of working cooperatively with diverse teams, regional, department, technical managers and project staff
- Committed to quality, improvement and values Experience Level Entry Level Job Type & Location This is a Contract position based out of Orlando, FL. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $24.00
- $27.00/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
