Location:
Palm Beach Gardens, FL - Hybrid The hourly pay rate for this position is $48.00-$52.00 per hour. Final compensation will be based on experience and qualifications.

Current employees are encouraged to apply through our careers page at https://unitedutility.com/careers About the Role The Lead CAD Permit Technician supports the Permit Supervisor by helping coordinate daily work assignments, guiding permit technicians, supporting training efforts, and maintaining a high level of individual permit production and quality. This role requires strong technical knowledge of permitting requirements, the ability to support team performance, and a commitment to maintaining a productive, professional, and safety-focused work environment. Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Promote and support the United Utility Services safety program and a safety-first work environment.
  • Understand, support, and uphold applicable company policies, procedures, and handbook expectations.
  • Complete permits at an accelerated pace while maintaining accuracy, quality, and compliance with applicable standards.
  • Assist the Permit Supervisor with delegating tasks and coordinating daily work assignments for the permit team.
  • Consider team members' skills, experience, and specialties when supporting assignment distribution, including scale drawings, underground permits, and overhead permits.
  • Provide clear direction, guidance, coaching, and mentoring to permit technicians.
  • Support training for new and existing permit technicians to help ensure consistent knowledge, skills, and performance across the team.
  • Review assignments for accuracy, completeness, and quality.
  • Help maintain healthy team dynamics, support collaboration, and contribute to a comfortable and productive work environment.
  • Facilitate problem solving and assist the team in resolving issues when appropriate.
  • Escalate issues that cannot be resolved by the team and keep the Permit Supervisor informed of task status, accomplishments, and concerns.
  • Attend meetings, training sessions, and seminars as required.
  • Stay current on changes in applicable standards, technologies, methodologies, and permitting practices.
  • Take on additional projects or responsibilities as requested.
  • Perform QAQC of utility permit drawings prior to submission.
  • Submit utility permit applications to agencies as needed. Required Qualifications
  • At least 2 years' experience as a Permit CAD technician.
  • Demonstrated experience preparing, reviewing, or coordinating permits in a utility, engineering, construction, or related environment.
  • Strong understanding of permitting processes, documentation requirements, and applicable standards.
  • Ability to review work for accuracy, quality, and completeness.
  • Ability to prioritize work, meet deadlines, and maintain productivity in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong communication, coaching, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to support team members professionally and escalate issues appropriately.
  • Commitment to safety, quality, integrity, and professional conduct.
  • Proficiency with applicable permitting systems, design tools, Microsoft Office applications, and related technology. Preferred Qualifications
  • Prior experience serving in a lead, senior technician, trainer, or informal team leadership capacity.
  • Experience with overhead and underground utility permitting.
  • Experience preparing or reviewing scale drawings or related permit documentation.
  • Knowledge of utility industry standards, municipal requirements, and permitting agency expectations. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Ability to motivate, guide, and support team members in a professional manner.
  • Sound judgment and ability to identify when issues require supervisor involvement.
  • Ability to collaborate across teams and communicate effectively with internal stakeholders.
  • Ability to adapt to changing priorities, standards, technologies, and methodologies.
Compensation and Benefits Compensation:
The hourly pay rate for this position is $45.00-$55.00. Final compensation will be based on experience and qualifications. United Utility Services offers a comprehensive benefits package for eligible employees, which may include medical, dental, vision, 401(k), HSA and/or FSA options, paid time off, company-paid holidays, life insurance, and short- and long-term disability coverage.
