Vice President of OperationsPOSITION SUMMARY
The CAD Designer performs para-professional office and engineering tasks in support of various technical projects. Responsibilities may include drafting, project design, calculations, layout creation, quality control, and utilization of Computer-Aided Design (CAD) tools. Work assignments vary by experience level and may involve collaboration with engineering and project management staff.MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Education and Experience:
High school diploma or equivalent required. Associate degree (minimum 60 semester units) in Engineering, Mathematics, or related technical field preferred. A combination of relevant education and experience may be considered in place of formal education. Three (3) years of para-professional experience in drafting, design, or engineering support. One (1) year of experience may be waived with an accredited associate's degree. Experience with SolidWorks CAD software required.Knowledge of:
Engineering principles, terminology, and drafting practices. CAD systems and techniques. Technical report writing and data analysis. Office software (Word, Excel, Outlook). Time management, file organization, and documentation standards.Skills and Abilities:
Read and interpret technical drawings and specifications. Analyze data, make calculations, and solve design-related issues. Communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing. Organize digital and physical files per company procedures. Operate CAD software (SolidWorks) and standard office applications. Use measurement tools (e.g., tape measure, calipers) with accuracy. Work independently with minimal supervision in a fast-paced environment. Adapt to changing project requirements and deadlines.ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Create, revise, and maintain detailed component and assembly drawings. Support engineering teams in basic design tasks and calculations. Draft instruction documents and assembly procedures, and gather sample materials. Conduct quality control checks and ensure compliance with design standards. Interpret customer specifications and develop appropriate design responses. Collaborate with engineering and project stakeholders to coordinate design requirements. Prepare construction and zoning documentation for review and proposal development. Perform analysis of mechanical components for stress and functionality. Prepare "as-built" drawings and update layouts based on project needs. Create spreadsheets, maintain databases, and generate basic reports. Provide training on design applications under supervision. Deliver technical presentations and assist in responding to plan check requirements. Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives to enhance efficiency and reduce costs. Adhere to established procedures, company policies, and project guidelines. Report to work on time and maintain regular attendance (Monday-Friday). Perform other related duties as assigned.PHYSICAL DEMANDS
Primarily an office-based role with extended periods of sitting and computer use. Ability to lift up to 20 lbs occasionally and navigate stairs as needed. Visual acuity for reading and computer work, with or without corrective eyewear. Regular use of hands for typing and phone communication. Occasional standing at trade shows or events. Business casual dress in the office.WORKING CONDITIONS
