This role sets the tone for accountability, execution, and team development while ensuring accurate, timely, and high-quality survey deliverables. The Drafting Manager will establish clear drafting standards, drive measurable improvements in quality and turnaround time, and develop drafting personnel into higher-value Designer roles aligned with the company's long-term growth strategy. As a working manager, this individual will actively participate in drafting and review while implementing workflow improvements, including responsible integration of emerging technologies and AI-enabled tools. Key Responsibilities Lead and manage the drafting team, including recruitment, onboarding, coaching, and performance management. Serve as a working manager by actively contributing to drafting production and quality review. Establish, maintain, and enforce drafting standards, templates, and quality control processes. Oversee production and accuracy of survey-related deliverables, including easement exhibits, plan and profile drawings, boundary surveys, and ALTA-style surveys. Reduce rework and improve turnaround time through measurable process improvements. Develop and monitor drafting KPIs tied to quality, revision rates, and delivery performance. Build and maintain a development pathway that advances drafters into Designer-level roles. Collaborate with Survey, Project Management, and Operations to align drafting output with project needs and customer expectations. Evaluate and implement workflow modernization initiatives, including automation and AI-assisted drafting tools. Maintain version control, document integrity, and compliance with internal and client standards. Forecast staffing, capacity, and technology needs to support business growth. Required Qualifications 5+ years of hands-on drafting experience in survey, civil, or related industry. Proven experience leading or developing drafting personnel. Direct experience producing or reviewing easement exhibits, plan and profile drawings, boundary surveys, and ALTA-style surveys. Advanced proficiency in CAD software (e.g., AutoCAD Civil 3D or equivalent). Experience implementing drafting standards and quality control systems. Demonstrated ability to improve workflow efficiency and reduce rework. Ability and willingness to work full-time in the Fort Worth office. Preferred Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Drafting & Design, Engineering, Surveying, or related field (or equivalent experience). Experience implementing automation or AI-assisted drafting workflows. Familiarity with industry standards and survey documentation controls. Experience building structured development paths within technical teams. Supervisory Responsibility This position has direct supervisory responsibility over drafting personnel, including drafters and CAD technicians, and is accountable for team performance, development, and quality standards. Work Environment This is an in-office leadership position located in the Fort Worth office. Daily in-person leadership, collaboration, and engagement with drafting staff are expected. Limited flexibility may be granted as needed; however, this role is structured as an on-site position. Physical Demands This is primarily a sedentary role requiring extended computer use. Occasional standing, walking, or light lifting may be required. Position Type / Expected Hours of Work This is a full-time position. Standard work hours are Monday through Friday, typically 8:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m. Additional hours may be required to meet project deadlines and business needs. Travel Occasional travel to field offices or project sites may be required.
