Job Summary This is an intermediate production role for individuals with solid CAD skills who are expanding into non-routine drafting assignments. The position is primarily responsible for preparing, updating, and revising 2D electrical drawings and 3D models by picking up redlines, engineering markups, reference CAD files, and manufacturer cut sheets provided by engineers. Key Responsibilities Duties and Responsibilities Revise and create non-routine drawings, layouts, and details based on sketches, engineering notes, markups, or verbal guidance. Develop 3D parts and equipment models in AutoCAD Inventor from dimensions and details provided in cut sheets or reference files. Modify electrical layouts, schematics, and wiring drawings from supplied engineering markups and reference packages. Set up discipline-specific drawings, sheet sets, borders, and templates at project startup. Apply and adhere to company and client drafting standards and layering conventions. Check completed work for technical accuracy, completeness, and conformance to project requirements before submitting to the design originator. Authority and Accountability Receive general instructions, requirements, and advice from a supervisor or project engineer. Consult directly with the design originator to clarify layout information and resolve markup discrepancies. Completed work is reviewed and checked for technical accuracy and project requirements. May give basic drafting guidance and support to entry-level drafting personnel. Required Skills CAD Drafting Capabilities Proficient in AutoCAD (2D) and AutoCAD Inventor (3D) . Capable of working in other software packages when necessary (such as AutoCAD Electrical, Bentley MicroStation). Routinely uses higher-level commands, time-saving programs, shortcuts, and routines to maintain efficient production. Discipline Knowledge Proficient in drafting theory and principles. Capable of reading and interpreting engineering redlines, drawing layouts, and vendor cut sheets (discipline-specific design experience is not required). Shows interest and ability to support project production needs. Demonstrated ability to work as an effective team member within the electrical discipline. Education Requirements Minimum Associate degree in Computer-Aided Drafting (CAD), drafting technology, or a related technical field required. Required Experience Minimum 2 years of related drafting experience required.
