CAD Designer II The CAD Designer II is an early-career designer who works independently on assigned tasks, with occasional guidance from senior team members. This role focuses on creating accurate 3D models and fabrication drawings for water and wastewater treatment equipment, while continuing to build expertise in CAD tools and design standards. This position requires strong attention to detail, the ability to manage deadlines, and a proactive approach to identifying and resolving design issues. Key Responsibilities Create 3D models and fabrication drawings, including skid layouts, general arrangements (GAs), frame drawings, and piping isometrics Design and model treatment skids such as pump skids, filtration skids, piping systems, and supports Review P&IDs, drawings, and project specifications to understand requirements Work in both metric and imperial units as needed Manage assigned tasks and meet project deadlines, raising risks early when needed Perform self-checks to ensure accuracy and reduce rework Participate in design reviews and follow up on action items Collaborate with engineering and sr. designers to ensure designs are clear and buildable Provide support and guidance to junior designers when needed Follow quality (ISO 9001:2015) and safety standards Handle sensitive information professionally Required Qualifications Experience with AutoCAD Plant 3D and/or Advanced Steel Ability to produce clear, accurate, and buildable drawings Strong understanding of P&IDs, piping systems, and equipment layouts Knowledge of fabrication and skid assembly practices Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint) Education & Experience Associate degree or technical diploma in Drafting, Mechanical Design, or related field (or equivalent experience) 2-5 years of CAD design experience in industrial, process, or skid-based environments Fabrication or shop experience is a plus Additional Information Minimal travel (occasional local shop visits) Contract-to-hire opportunity Intermediate experience level Key Skills Skid design Water/wastewater systems P&IDs AutoCAD Plant 3D Industrial piping design Job Type & Location This is a Contract position based out of Plano, TX.
